Talis Group’s company client is a small southern Indiana practice specializing in estate planning, real estate, elder law, and guardianships. They are hiring a client-focused and dependable Legal Assistant to join their team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is organized, eager to learn, and enjoys helping others in a fast-paced office environment.
Previous legal experience is welcome but not required. We are willing to train the right candidate who demonstrates a strong work ethic, attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to providing outstanding client service.
As a member of our team, you will work closely with attorneys and staff to help keep the office running efficiently while supporting clients through a variety of legal matters.
Highlighted Duties:
- Answer and direct incoming telephone calls professionally.
- Greet clients and visitors with courtesy and professionalism.
- Schedule appointments, hearings, and meetings.
- Prepare, format, proofread, and organize legal documents and correspondence.
- Open and maintain client files, both electronic and paper.
- Manage calendars and monitor important deadlines.
- Scan, copy, file, and organize documents.
- Assist with court filings and document preparation (training provided).
- Communicate with clients, courts, and outside professionals.
- Process incoming and outgoing mail.
- Maintain confidentiality of client information.
- Provide general administrative support to attorneys and office staff.
Highlighted Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's or bachelor's degree is a plus.
- Prior office or administrative experience preferred but not required.
- Legal experience is not required—we will train the right candidate.
- Strong organizational skills and exceptional attention to detail.
- Dependable with excellent attendance and punctuality.
- Professional appearance and demeanor.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Comfortable using Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel) and learning new software.
