Toepfer at Law is seeking a highly organized, compassionate, and detail-oriented Legal Assistant or Paralegal to join our team in Waite Park, Minnesota.

Please note, the stated pay range for this position is wide to accommodate the differences between a legal assistant and paralegal. A certified paralegal would be compensated in the upper half of the scale, commensurate with experience. Someone applying as a legal assistant would have lower pay, but also reduced expectations. In short, the firm would happily utilize either if we find an excellent candidate that meets either role.

The Role

You will play a critical role in the daily operations of our practice, ensuring that case files are managed effectively and that our clients feel supported from their initial consultation through the resolution of their case.

Key Responsibilities
\n

- Case Management Support: Maintain physical and digital client files, manage deadlines, and assist attorneys with document drafting, including pleadings, motions, and correspondence.
- \n
- Client Communication: Act as a primary point of contact for clients. You will manage inquiries with professionalism, empathy, and strict confidentiality, keeping clients informed on the status of their cases.
- \n
- Scheduling & Coordination: Manage attorney calendars, schedule mediations, depositions, court hearings, and client meetings.
- \n
- Administrative Excellence: Handle incoming mail, e-filings with the court, and assist with the transition and maintenance of our practice management systems (such as MyCase or Clio).

- Collaborative Support: Work closely with our existing team of paralegals and staff to ensure office workflows remain efficient and accurate.

Qualifications

- Experience in a law firm setting, preferably within family law, is highly valued.
- \n
- Proficiency in modern legal practice management software (experience with Clio is a significant plus).
- \n
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
- \n
- The ability to handle highly sensitive, confidential information with discretion.
- \n
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced legal environment.
