    Position Title:

    Legal Administrative Assistant - (26142007)

    The Montana Department of Public Health and Human Services (DPHHS) has a career opportunity within the Office of Legal Affairs.

    This position provides a variety of legal assistance and administrative support services to approximately 19 attorneys and Office of Legal Affairs (OLA) management team. The successful candidate will provide comprehensive legal and administrative support by preparing legal documents, managing case files and court deadlines, maintaining case management systems, coordinating court filings, proofreading legal documents for accuracy and compliance, tracking commitments and guardianship matters, communicating with courts and government agencies, and assisting attorneys with litigation preparation, exhibits, dockets, and case timelines.

    Qualifications for this Career Opportunity

    • Knowledge of legal terminology, legal cite checking, and state Rules of Civil Procedure.

    • Knowledge of legal formatting requirements in various courts and other jurisdictions.

    • Ability to work independently and within a team environment.

    • Ability to navigate State and Federal court systems.

    • Meet minimum qualifications:

    • High School Diploma or equivalent and two years job-related college or vocational training.

    • Four years of administrative support experience in legal settings, including experience with pleadings, legal terminology, and filing processes with various court systems.

    • Other combinations of related education and experience may be considered on a case-by-case basis.
