Salary Information: Minimum Salary $2,053.00 per credit hour, in accordance with the applicable UHPA lecturer fee schedule.

Other Conditions: For placement in lecturer pool for Spring 2027 and future semesters, day and/or evening courses, including Outreach extension and summer courses. Courses are primarily online asynchronous; however, needs may occasionally arise for online synchronous or in-person courses. For online asynchronous course teaching, the College of Social Sciences will require training in advance. Contingent upon registration, position availability, course offerings, departmental need, and funding. Applicants may refer to the list of Economics (ECON) courses in the UH Manoa Catalog:
Positions are part-time, non-tenure for lecturer candidate pool. Because UH Manoa employment is limited to individuals residing in Hawaii, lecturers are required to reside in and teach from Hawaii. For information about the department, visit https://economics.hawaii.edu/.
Duties and Responsibilities
To teach various undergraduate and/or graduate courses in Economics.
Other related duties, including meeting course requirements as established by the department, preparing course syllabus, grading, and maintaining weekly office hours.
Minimum Qualifications
M.A. in Economics or an appropriate related field from a college or university of recognized standing, with the major work in field or related field in which the instructional assignment is made or duties performed;
Evidence of ability to teach effectively, direct group discussions, and/or to provide clinical supervision;
Demonstrated ability of professionalism in meeting and conferring with others.
Desirable Qualifications
Ph.D. in Economics or an appropriate related field.
Teaching experience at the college or university level.
Experience teaching online (asynchronous and/or synchronous) courses.
Experience using learning management systems such as Brightspace by D2L or Lamaku at UH.
