Leave Replacement School Counselor

The Leave Replacement School Counselor will support students' academic, social-emotional, and career development during a temporary assignment in a South Plainfield school setting. The counselor will provide individual and group counseling, collaborate with families and staff, respond to student needs, and help maintain a safe, inclusive environment that promotes student well-being and success.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide individual and small-group counseling to address students' academic, social-emotional, behavioral, and personal needs.
• Conduct student assessments, develop appropriate support strategies, and monitor progress toward identified goals.
• Collaborate with teachers, administrators, families, and support personnel to coordinate interventions and student services.
• Assist students with academic planning, scheduling, transition support, and postsecondary or career exploration.
• Maintain accurate, confidential records and respond appropriately to student crises, referrals, and safeguarding concerns.

Other Requirements:

• New Jersey School Counselor Certificate required
• Salary is step 1 MA $67,735 (prorated for duration of leave) as per the SPEA Agreement with the South Plainfield Board of Education
