    Description

    Seeking one (1) highly motivated and experienced individual to fill in as a Leave Replacement for Special Education MD Teachers at Rush School during the 2026-2027 school year. This is a temporary position that will require the candidate to work closely with students, teachers, and parents to ensure the delivery of high-quality education services. The ideal candidate should have strong communication skills, be able to work independently, and have a passion for working with students with special needs. The leave position will begin on or about August 31, 2026, with an anticipated end on December 16, 2026.

    Responsibilities:

    • Provide individual and group instruction to students with special needs
    • Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for students
    • Collaborate with classroom teachers and other special education staff to ensure students receive appropriate support
    • Monitor student progress and adjust instruction as needed
    • Communicate regularly with parents/guardians regarding student progress
    • Attend IEP meetings and other meetings related to student progress and services
    • Maintain accurate records and documentation related to student progress and services
    • Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current on best practices and trends in special education
    • Promotes a classroom environment that is safe and conducive to individualized and small group instruction, and student learning
    • Develops lesson plans and instructional materials and translates lesson plans into learning experiences so as to best utilize the available time for instruction
    • Conducts ongoing assessment of student learning, and modifies instructional methods to fit individual student's needs, including students with special needs; conducts individual and small group instruction as needed
    • Instructs students in the principles of responsible citizenship and other subject matters specified in applicable laws, as well as administrative regulations and procedures of the school system
    • Organizes and maintains a system for accurate and complete record-keeping, grading, and reporting for all student activities, achievement and attendance as required by district procedures and applicable laws

    Requirements:

    • Bachelor's degree in Special Education or related field
    • Valid teaching certification in Special Education
    • Experience working with students with special needs
    • Knowledge of special education laws and regulations
    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
    • Flexibility and adaptability in a fast-paced environment
    • Strong organizational and time-management skills
    • Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times
