Leave of Absence Specialist

Location: Houston, TX

Pay Rate: Starting at $36.00/hour

Schedule: Monday-Friday | 8:00 AM-5:00 PM

Dean's Professional Services is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Leave of Absence Specialist to support a leading healthcare organization in Houston, TX. This role serves as a subject matter expert on leave programs, including LOA, FMLA, and LTD, while providing guidance to employees, leaders, vendors, and internal HR partners.

Responsibilities

  • Administer and coordinate leave of absence programs in accordance with company policies and applicable regulations.

     

  • Serve as a subject matter expert on LOA, FMLA, and LTD policies, procedures, and processes.

     

  • Provide accurate and timely guidance to employees and managers regarding leave eligibility, requirements, and return-to-work processes.

     

  • Coordinate leave claims with external vendors and provide accurate information for claim processing.

     

  • Monitor employee leaves and coordinate timely return-to-work activities.

     

  • Communicate with employees, managers, HR, Payroll, Benefits, Information Services, and external vendors to resolve leave-related issues.

     

  • Investigate claim discrepancies and identify solutions to routine and complex leave management concerns.

     

  • Assist with developing training materials, communications, and resources related to leave programs.

     

  • Maintain confidentiality when handling sensitive employee and medical information.

     

  • Support reporting, data management, and analysis related to leave programs.

     

  • Identify process improvements and provide recommendations to leadership.

     

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

     

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required

     

  • 2+ years of experience in Human Resources required

     

  • 2+ years of experience in leave of absence, FMLA, benefits, employee relations, or vendor relationship management

     

  • Strong knowledge of LOA, FMLA, and LTD administration

     

  • Experience managing vendor relationships preferred

     

  • Working knowledge of PeopleSoft or another HRIS

     

  • Intermediate Microsoft Office skills, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint

     

  • Strong administrative, data management, analytical, and problem-solving skills

     

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

     

  • Ability to manage confidential and sensitive information with discretion

     

  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-volume environment

     

  • Strong attention to detail, organization, and customer service skills
