Leave/HR Administrator
Reports To: Director of Staff Relations
Purpose: Under the direction of the Director of Staff Relations, this position is responsible for providing guidance and direction to staff and district leadership in the areas of worker's compensation, leave administration, and facility access systems.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Workers' Compensation:
- Manage the workers' compensation program for Rowan-Salisbury Schools
- Process claims promptly and accurately
- Respond to employee inquiries regarding their claims
- Manage communications with insurance providers
- Monitor all claims, consulting with employees, Principals, Directors, insurance representatives,
medical staff and attorneys
- Identify and assign light duty/temporary work for injured employees as required and per the
Rowan-Salisbury School's Return to Work policy
- Communicate case status updates and necessary information to involved parties, including
notifications of hearings, outcomes, and return-to-work guidelines
- Schedule and attend quarterly claim reviews
- Prepare and submit required reporting and documentation to OSHA, state, local agencies and other
relevant entities
- Evaluate and recommend changes for processes involving recording, investigating and reporting
workers' compensation claims
- Collaborate with Directors and Principals to identify accident causes, complete required paperwork
and develop preventive solutions
- Attend mediations as required by legal counsel virtually or in-person
- Conduct periodic reviews of cases to identify trends and areas for improvement
- Maintain current knowledge of regulations and laws related to workers' compensation reporting
- Coordinate or assist with safety programs focused on injury prevention and facilitate
accommodations for employees
- Create and mail annual 300A reports to schools and administrative locations for required posting
Leave Administration:
- Coordinate the administration of leave benefits offered by RSS, including but not limited to FMLA,
leave of absence, short-term disability and long-term disability.
- Provide employees with information on offerings available to them for counseling, benefits and
other services.
- Work with employees to navigate through FMLA.
- Stay up-to-date on ever-changing state benefit and leave programs.
Facility Access Control:
- Prepare, create, and administer all door access cards for the Rowan-Salisbury School System
- Serve as the primary contact for the Brivo door access system
- Issue photo and non-photo ID access cards and assign access authorizations for all cardholders
- Address scheduling modifications, and deletions of access in a timely manner
- Provide customer support for photo ID access cards and access control issues
- Generate database queries and reports to support system administrator functions
- Work with Safety Technician to troubleshoot and correct door access issues
Safety Administration:
- Keep records for fire drills, inspections, evacuation plans
- Key work orders for inspection recommendations and violations; monitor progress and completion
of each one
- Communicate and record tornado drills to and for schools
- Communicate and record earthquake drills to and for schools
- Communicate playground inspections and collect documentation
or schools
Other Duties:
- Participate in additional projects as needed
- Attend workers' compensation and safety conferences and training as requested
- Collect fire drill reports, inspections Perform other duties assigned
Qualifications:
- Associate's degree in human resources, business administration or related field preferred;
- Two years leave administration experience preferred;
- Knowledge of workers' compensation laws and safety regulations is strongly preferred; or any like
combination of education and experience.
- K-12 education experience is strongly preferred.
- Working knowledge of the Family Medical Leave Act preferred.
- Ability to excel individually and as part of a team.
- Professional written and verbal communication skills
- Strong initiative and ability to anticipate issues proactively.
- Ability to perform tasks with limited instruction and supervision
- Ability to succeed in a fast-paced environment.
- Proven track record of reliability and responsibility.
- Detail oriented with strong organizational and administrative skills.
- Advanced computer skills to include Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, Google, etc.
- Discreet able to handle confidential and proprietary information appropriately.
- Willingness and ability to respond to calls after work hours and on weekends in the event that an employee is injured and in need of medical attention.
Terms Of Employment: Twelve-month
