Position Summary
The Learning Specialist is responsible for delivering engaging, high-impact learning experiences that build employee knowledge, skills, engagement, and performance. This role serves as a facilitator for instructor-led, virtual, and blended learning programs while partnering with subject matter experts to ensure training effectively supports organizational objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the delivery of instructor-led, virtual, and hybrid learning programs across the organization.
- Deliver onboarding, DHCS and health plan required training for compliance, and ongoing recurring or refresher training.
- Create engaging learning environments that encourage participation, collaboration, and knowledge retention.
- Adapt facilitation techniques to accommodate diverse learning styles and audiences.
- Manage classroom dynamics and address participant questions effectively.
- Ensure a consistent and high-quality learner experience across all training programs.
- Assess learner understanding through observations, discussions, assessments, and activities.
- Provide coaching, feedback, and performance support to learners.
- Reinforce learning through follow-up sessions, and performance support resources.
- Assist with pilot programs and gather learner feedback for improvements.
- Support the rollout of new learning initiatives and organizational change programs.
- Ensure content is delivered consistently and in alignment with organizational standards.
- Ensure training materials, job aids, and resources are prepared and current.
- Identify learning gaps and recommend additional development opportunities.
- Partner with subject matter experts to ensure learning content remains accurate and relevant.
- Analyze learner feedback, training metrics, and performance outcomes.
- Support with Learning Management Systems (LMS) to administer and update courses.
- Gather learner feedback and recommend enhancements.
- Confirm scheduling, logistics, and coordination of training events.
- Assist in the development and revision of curricula, facilitator guides, job aids, eLearning modules, and competency assessments.
- Create and send post-training reports to department leadership to inform them of learner progress or concerns.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree required; preferably in Education, Healthcare, Communications, Behavioral Health, or a related field.
- Experience training delivery, onboarding and new hire support, education, or workforce development.
- Valid California driver's license and valid vehicle insurance required.
- Experience in healthcare, managed care, behavioral health, public health, or community-based services preferred.
- Familiarity with Enhanced Care Management (ECM), Community Supports (CS), Behavioral Health (BH) preferred.
- Familiarity with Learning Management Systems (LMS) or training platforms preferred.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Strong verbal, written communication skills, and interpersonal skills with a collaborative, team-oriented approach.
- Strong organizational and time management skills with attention to detail.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (PowerPoint, Excel, Word) and virtual training tools (e.g., Zoom, Teams).
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines with minimal supervision.
- Ability to keep accurate training records and manage training logistics
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to travel to other sites, including potential overnight stays.
- Mileage reimbursement for the use of your vehicle is at the IRS standard rate.
- Prolonged periods of sitting at an office desk on the computer.
- Lifting: Able to lift up to 15lbs.
