DEPARTMENT: Elementary/Secondary DAYS: 187

FUND:

FEDERALLY FUNDED: The salary for this position may be partially paid with federal funds. Federally funded

positions are supplemental and therefore subject to federal funds

ROLE AND PURPOSE: The Learning Coach (LC) will play a critical role in supporting teachers, enhancing

instructional practices, and promoting student success. The LC will implement new exciting opportunities to

collaborate with educators, provide instructional guidance, and contribute to the implementation of innovative

teaching strategies within a supportive educational environment. Learning Coaches are strong teachers who deliver

targeted, purposeful, and differentiated instruction to students. The LC will play a critical role in supporting

teachers via push-in or pull-out support. By providing individualized academic support, the LC will play a pivotal

role in ensuring that every student can succeed. This position is dedicated to working directly with students.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education/Certification:

  • Bachelor''s Degree required
  • Certified in the area assigned (ELAR or Math)
  • ESL Certification is preferred

Experience:

  • Minimum three years of classroom teaching experience with strong instructional skills,

demonstrated through proven academic outcomes

SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS:

  • Ability to intervene with small groups of identified students around academic standards
  • Deep content knowledge in ELAR or Math with an achievement and outcomes orientation
  • Strong instructional and classroom management skills
  • High level of personal organization and planning
  • Ability to inspire, motivate, and engage children
  • Proficiency in using Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and other

relevant software applications

  • Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks, plan

effectively, and meet deadlines

  • Effective written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interact and collaborate

professionally with individuals at all levels

  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment
  • Demonstrated problem-solving abilities and adaptability in a dynamic work environment

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

I. INSTRUCTIONAL SUPPORT

  • Student support (in collaboration with the classroom teacher and in a small group settings)
  • Plan and prepare a variety of learning activities considering individual student's culture,

learning styles, special needs and socio-economic background

  • Utilize materials and resources that support learning objectives and address students' varying

learning styles and special needs

  • Establish and maintain a positive and safe learning environment in which students are

encouraged to be actively engaged in the learning process and self-directed in high interest

research and/or problem-based learning

  • Assist with the development and implementation of student support and/or self-directed

learning plans

  • Monitor and communicate the progress of identified students
  • Create structures for students to showcase their learning to the community, including parents,

staff, and professionals

  • Support student independence and learning with acceleration support to help them achieve

meets expectations in a learning and/or innovation lab

  • Support the implementation of all classroom expectations for the classroom environment and

instructional cycle

  • Support teachers with timely transitions, i.e., start and stop, and transition to and from

intervention and/or extension

  • Support teachers with grading and organizing student work on a weekly basis
  • Collaborate with teachers to enhance instructional strategies, differentiation, and assessment

practices

  • Support the implementation of curriculum plans aligned with state standards and district

initiatives

  • Collaborate with teachers to analyze student data and identify areas for instructional

improvement

  • Collaborate with teachers, instructional leaders, and support staff to align initiatives and

support student success

  • Stay updated on the latest educational trends, research, and best practices
  • Support teachers in utilizing formative and summative assessments to monitor student

progress and inform instructional decisions

  • Applies deep content and pedagogical knowledge to move students to grade-level proficiency
  • Creates engaging, rigorous lesson plans
  • Implements robust, outcome-based intervention plans that sequence and scaffold learning to

maximize student access to grade-level standards

  • Leverages the collective understandings of the multidisciplinary/MTSS team to increase

student outcomes

  • Uses data from student work, assessments, and observations to refine interventions,

extensions and support

II. OTHER DUTIES

  • Applies excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Communicates with principal, teachers, and staff about identified student needs and offers

support as needed

  • Communicates and models research-based instructional practices that result in increased

student performance

  • Maintains a continued awareness of current research and trends in curriculum
  • Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures.
  • Foster a collaborative and supportive school culture by promoting open communication and

teamwork

  • Participate in school-wide initiatives, committees, and professional learning communities
  • Support classroom management and substitute as needed
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned
