About The Project:
Commonpoint is seeking an experienced HR Operations and Process Improvement Consultant to lead a comprehensive Onboarding Stabilization and Process Improvement Project. This engagement offers an opportunity to make a lasting organizational impact by redesigning and strengthening the employee onboarding experience across a large, multi-site nonprofit organization.
Working closely with Human Resources, Information Technology, Payroll, hiring managers, and organizational leadership, the consultant will assess current onboarding practices, stabilize day-to-day operations, and develop standardized, scalable processes that improve efficiency, accountability, compliance, and the overall employee experience.
This project combines Lean process improvement, project management, organizational change, and HR operations to create a sustainable onboarding framework that supports future growth, seasonal hiring, and continued Workday optimization.
Project Objectives:
The consultant will lead efforts to:
- Assess the current end-to-end onboarding process from offer acceptance through new hire integration.
- Identify operational gaps, bottlenecks, duplicate work, and compliance risks.
- Stabilize current onboarding practices to improve consistency and service delivery.
- Design standardized workflows, tools, templates, and documentation.
- Develop sustainable Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and clearly defined responsibilities.
- Partner with HR leadership to build a scalable onboarding model that supports a high-volume, multi-site workforce.
- Facilitate process improvement workshops with HR, hiring managers, IT, Payroll, and other stakeholders.
- Support optimization of onboarding workflows within Workday and related HR systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the overall onboarding stabilization and process improvement project from assessment through implementation.
- Map current-state and future-state onboarding workflows.
- Analyze onboarding processes to identify opportunities for increased efficiency and improved customer experience.
- Develop recommendations that streamline work while strengthening compliance and accountability.
- Create standardized onboarding tools, checklists, templates, process maps, and SOPs.
- Define roles and responsibilities across HR, hiring managers, IT, Payroll, and other internal partners.
- Facilitate cross-functional meetings and process redesign workshops.
- Develop project timelines, milestones, risk assessments, and status updates.
- Partner with HR leadership to prioritize recommendations and implement quick wins.
- Establish metrics and dashboards to monitor onboarding performance and continuous improvement.

Desired Qualifications:
The ideal consultant will bring:
- Significant experience in HR Operations, Organizational Development, or Human Resources Consulting.
- Demonstrated success leading onboarding redesign, process improvement, or operational transformation projects.
- Experience applying Lean Six Sigma, Continuous Improvement, Kaizen, or similar methodologies (Green Belt, Black Belt, or equivalent preferred).
- Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple workstreams simultaneously.
- Experience facilitating cross-functional process mapping and workflow redesign workshops.
- Experience implementing or optimizing Human Resource Information Systems (Workday experience strongly preferred).
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent facilitation, communication, and stakeholder management abilities.
- Experience developing SOPs, process documentation, and operational playbooks.
- Ability to build consensus, influence stakeholders, and drive organizational change.

Salaries are determined based on internal and external equity, as well as each position's scope, qualifications, and organizational impact. To maintain fairness across the organization, salary offers are set according to established salary bands and are not subject to negotiation. New hires typically start near the beginning of the salary range to allow for growth based on performance, professional development, and tenure.
