Overview:

Cummings Electrical is expanding our Integrated Manufacturing team. We design and build custom, integrated, modular systems such as e-houses, electrical skids, HAC’s and UL 508A panels for a wide range of projects, including data centers, healthcare facilities, industrial plants, and more.

As part of our team, you will work hands-on in a fast-paced, innovative environment, helping reduce jobsite risks, accelerate project timelines, and deliver high-quality solutions. If you are looking for growth, meaningful work, and a chance to be part of a team shaping the future of off-site integration and manufacturing, this is the place to make an impact!

As a Lean Engineer, you will be a key driver of operational excellence, leading initiatives that improve safety, quality, delivery, and cost across the organization. You’ll partner with cross‑functional teams to identify waste, streamline processes, and build a culture of continuous improvement. This role blends hands‑on problem solving with strategic thinking, enabling you to influence both daily operations and long‑term performance.

Responsibilities:

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate Kaizen & VSM — Plan and lead Kaizen events and value‑stream mapping sessions to identify and eliminate waste.
  • Apply CI Methodologies — Use 3P, DMAIC, PDCA, and 8D to resolve process, quality, and throughput issues.
  • Coach Lean Practices — Train engineers, supervisors, and operators on standard work, 5S, visual management, SMED, and other Lean tools to build site capability.
  • Drive Data‑Based Improvements — Analyze OEE, cycle time, FPY, scrap, and throughput to establish sustainable countermeasures.
  • Standardize Best Practices — Develop and roll out standardized work instructions, CI playbooks, and best practices.
  • Scale Successful Pilots — Coordinate pilot implementations and expand proven improvements to additional sites.
  • Partner on Safety & Quality — Collaborate with safety and quality teams to ensure improvements meet regulatory and corporate standards.

Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related field; equivalent experience considered.
  • 3-5 years of hands-on experience in continuous improvement, Lean manufacturing, or industrial engineering within a manufacturing environment, preferably with site and multi-site deployments.
  • Certification in Lean, Six Sigma (Green Belt required; Black Belt preferred), or equivalent CI training.
  • Proven experience facilitating Kaizen events, value stream mapping, and deploying standardized work and 5S programs.
  • Strong analytical skills with experience using data analysis tools (Excel, Minitab, Power BI or similar) and comfort working with production performance metrics.
  • Demonstrated project management skills, including leading cross-functional teams and delivering measurable cost, quality, and productivity improvements.
  • Excellent coaching, communication, and change management skills with the ability to influence at all levels of the organization.
  • Proficiency in facility layout and material flow design tools, including AutoCAD; familiarity with layout, visualization, or simulation tools such as Microsoft Visio, Autodesk Revit, or discrete-event simulation tools like FlexSim.
