Lead Strategist, Technology Strategy & Operations

The pay range is $95,000.00 - $171,000.00

Pay is based on several factors which vary based on position. These include labor markets and in some instances may include education, work experience and certifications. As a Lead Strategist, you will:

Help shape and accelerate the work that matters most across Target's Technology organization during a pivotal chapter for the enterprise. Sitting at the intersection of strategy, execution, and organizational effectiveness, you will partner with senior Technology leaders to frame complex problems, shape strategy and priorities, and translate strategic direction into measurable action.

You will lead critical bodies of work spanning strategy and planning, portfolio leadership, and priority acceleration. You will bring clarity to ambiguity, connect insights across Technology, facilitate critical decisions, and create the structure and alignment needed to move work forward. You will help Technology anticipate what's next while continuously strengthening how we plan, prioritize, make decisions, and execute.

Strategic Thinking and Strategy Development

• Structure ambiguous strategic questions, define the approach required to solve them, and develop strategies and recommendations through research, analysis, synthesis, and evaluation of options and tradeoffs.
• Partner across Technology and the enterprise to develop and evolve multi-year Technology priorities, connecting enterprise strategy, emerging opportunities, and Technology capabilities to inform future direction.
• Translate strategic direction into clear priorities, measurable outcomes, and actionable plans.

Strategic Execution and Program Leadership

• Lead complex strategic initiatives from framing through execution, establishing clear outcomes, plans, governance, decision architecture, and accountability.
• Create visibility across priorities by connecting progress, risks, dependencies, and tradeoffs to drive decisions and maintain momentum.
• Build alignment and commitment across Technology and enterprise partners, translating complex topics into clear narratives and facilitating decisions that move work forward.

Change Management

• Anticipate organizational implications of strategic initiatives and help leaders and teams navigate significant change.
• Develop stakeholder, communication, and adoption approaches that enable new strategies, capabilities, and ways of working to take hold.
• Apply insights and learnings to strengthen Technology's planning, governance, decision-making, and operating model.

Strategic Perspective and Foresight

• Connect signals and insights across Technology, the enterprise, and external environment to identify emerging themes, opportunities, and risks.
• Translate emerging trends into future scenarios and implications for Technology's priorities and operating model.
• Anticipate downstream implications of strategic choices to help leaders make informed decisions today while preparing Technology for what's next.

About You

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience with 5+ years of relevant experience in strategy, consulting, program leadership, technology, operations, or related fields.
• Proven experience developing strategy and shaping strategic direction, priorities, and measurable outcomes.
• Strategic thinker and structured problem solver who can navigate ambiguity, synthesize complex information, evaluate tradeoffs, and develop clear recommendations.
• Strong strategic operator who can translate direction into action, mobilize cross-functional teams, and drive complex work forward with clarity and accountability.
• Exceptional communicator, storyteller, and facilitator who can develop compelling narratives, structure productive leader discussions, influence decisions, and build alignment across diverse stakeholders.
• Comfortable operating with pace, ambiguity, and changing priorities, with the ability to move fluidly between big-picture strategic thinking and execution detail.
• Brings enterprise perspective, intellectual curiosity, and sound judgment, with the ability to anticipate downstream implications and stay current on Technology, AI, business trends, and emerging opportunities.
• Demonstrates high accountability, adaptability, and bias toward action.

This position will operate as a Hybrid/Flex for Your Day work arrangement based on Target's needs. A Hybrid/Flex for Your Day work arrangement means the team member's core role will need to be performed both onsite at the Target HQ MN location the role is assigned to and virtually, depending upon what your role, team and tasks require for that day.
