The Lead Special Hazards Technician is responsible for providing reliable high-quality customer support through on-site inspecting, installing, repairing, and/or replacing fire alarm equipment, as well as conducting preventive maintenance services pertaining to many different manufacturers equipment.

Responsibilities:

• Performs inspections of Fire Alarm and Suppression Gas Systems based on contract requirements. • Test all equipment after installation or repairs made to ensure performance of the system. • Daily communications with Project Leader and/or Schedule Coordinator on inspections, installations, or project delays, requirements, and general status of jobs. • Build and maintain relationships with customers, up-sell all IFP services to include inspections, sprinkler installation, and monitoring. • Work with Project Leader, Schedule Coordinator, and Office Administrative Staff to ensure complete closeout and turnover of jobs to the client. • Ensure that work is completed so it can be billed in full. • Travel as required to job sites as directed by your foreman and/or other leaders. • Inventory and maintain organization of materials on the job site. • Meet responsibilities to the customer, fellow workers, and IFP by arriving on the job on time, ready to work every day. • Adhere to contractual starting and quitting times, including lunch and break periods. Personal cell phones will not be used during the workday except for designated break periods. • Maintain accountability and respect tools provided by IFP. • Complete work at or below budgeted labor hours. Immediately inform your leaders of any delays or work stoppages. • Respect the customers property. Dispose of all trash properly and be aware of your surroundings to avoid property damage. • Understand and follow all customer APi Group and IFP safety and security policies and procedures. • Obey all safe, reasonable, and legitimate leadership directives.

 

Qualifications:

A minimum of 2 years or more in Special Hazards experience is a must. It is preferred that candidates hold relevant manufacturers and state licenses for Fire Alarm License to inspect Suppression Systems. Have a strong knowledge of NFPA codes and industry standards. Maintain good habits and do not cut corners. Stay current with code requirements and industry changes.

 

PC Skills:

• Microsoft Windows • Excel • Word • Outlook

 

Excellent communication and organizational skills, along with standing customer-facing service and problem-solving skills. Able to inspect alarm and special gas systems FM 200 Sapphire CO2 high-pressure and low-pressure. Communicate effectively with your leaders regarding job status and any concerns.

 

Keep your work truck clean and organized. In addition to required PPE, dress appropriately to represent yourself and IFP as a professional tradesman and organization respectively. Valid state Drivers License required. Willing to pass post-offer drug screen, reference, and background check.

 

Education and Certifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent • NICET Certification • OSHA Certification is a plus • Prior suppression system manufacturer certification is a plus • Specific training in the fire industry is preferred

 

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to lift up to 50lbs with or without reasonable accommodation • Regular bending, reaching, climbing, and walking
