We are seeking an experienced Lead Software Engineer to design, develop, and enhance scalable, high-quality software solutions. This role is ideal for a hands-on technical leader with strong expertise in Java, Spring Boot, AWS, modern front-end technologies, and system design.

The Lead Software Engineer will work independently on complex initiatives, contribute to architectural and technical decisions, and mentor other engineers. This individual will collaborate across teams to deliver secure, reliable, and high-performing applications while continuously improving engineering practices throughout the software development lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and maintain scalable software applications and services.
• Lead complex technical initiatives requiring strong knowledge of software engineering principles, architecture, and industry best practices.
• Develop solutions that meet established standards for quality, reliability, security, scalability, and performance.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to software engineers.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate business and technical requirements into effective solutions.
• Identify gaps across systems, components, and processes and recommend appropriate technical improvements.
• Participate in system design and architecture discussions and help guide technical decision-making.
• Ensure project commitments are met and proactively communicate risks related to scope, schedule, quality, or delivery.
• Improve development processes, tools, environments, and engineering practices.
• Apply software engineering best practices across development, testing, deployment, and production support.
• Troubleshoot complex technical issues and identify solutions that support business and technology objectives.
• Communicate technical concepts, priorities, risks, and progress effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Promote strong engineering practices, collaboration, knowledge sharing, and continuous improvement.

Required Technical Skills

• Strong Java development experience
• Spring Boot and REST API development
• Strong object-oriented programming and design experience
• PostgreSQL and NoSQL database technologies
• DynamoDB
• JavaScript and TypeScript
• Experience with modern front-end frameworks such as React.js and/or Angular
• HTML, CSS, and Bootstrap
• Strong AWS experience, including services such as EC2, RDS, S3, SQS, SNS, Lambda, API Gateway, VPC, Security Groups, CloudFront, and Route 53
• Docker and containerization technologies
• CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices
• Automated testing and unit testing
• Software security and secure development practices
• Performance tuning and application optimization

Additional Qualifications

• Strong understanding of computer science fundamentals, including algorithms, data structures, complexity analysis, and problem solving.
• Strong system design and application architecture experience.
• Experience designing and developing cloud-based applications.
• Strong understanding of relational and NoSQL data storage technologies.
• Experience improving application performance, scalability, reliability, and maintainability.
• Ability to independently evaluate complex technical problems and recommend effective solutions.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.
• Demonstrated ability to mentor and support less experienced engineers.

Education & Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
• 7 years of relevant software engineering experience.
• Equivalent combinations of education, technical training, and professional experience may also be considered.
