Job Summary:The Lead SMT Operator is responsible for overseeing and performing the operation, setup, and maintenance of Surface Mount Technology (SMT) equipment to ensure efficient and high-quality production of electronic assemblies. This role involves guiding and training junior operators, troubleshooting issues, and maintaining a safe and organized work environment.Job Responsibilities:* Lead and supervise a team of SMT Operators, providing guidance, training, and performance feedback.* Perform complex setups, changeovers, and programming adjustments on SMT placement machines, solder paste printers, and reflow ovens.* Operate and monitor SMT equipment, including pick-and-place machines, screen printers, and reflow ovens, ensuring optimal performance and adherence to production schedules.* Conduct first-article inspections and in-process quality checks to identify and correct defects, ensuring product quality and compliance with specifications.* Troubleshoot and resolve SMT equipment malfunctions, performing minor repairs and preventative maintenance.* Read and interpret engineering drawings, assembly instructions, and bill of materials (BOMs).* Maintain accurate production records, including process parameters, quality data, and equipment logs.* Collaborate with engineering and quality control teams to optimize SMT processes and resolve production issues.* Ensure adherence to all safety protocols and maintain a clean and organized work area.* Assist in the training and development of new SMT operators.* Implement and support continuous improvement initiatives for SMT operations.Job Qualifications:* High school diploma or equivalent; associate's degree in electronics or a related field preferred.* Minimum of 5 years of experience operating and maintaining SMT equipment in a manufacturing environment.* Proven leadership or supervisory experience in a production setting.* Strong understanding of SMT processes, components, and industry best practices.* Proficiency in setting up, programming, and operating various SMT machines (e.g., Fuji, Mycronic, Juki, Panasonic).* Ability to read and interpret technical documentation, including schematics and assembly drawings.* Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills related to SMT equipment and processes.* Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.* Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to train and mentor others.* Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.* Knowledge of IPC-A-610 standards is highly desirable.* Basic computer skills for data entry and machine interface.* Ability to lift and move up to 25 pounds as needed.
