The primary responsibility of DSRP's is to give support and assistance to family member or guardians who are caring for children with disabilities who have qualified for respite services. They give appropriate care to children and support families by providing a planned break in the family's home, their own home, or other community settings as defined by the Respite Plan. In addition, the Lead Site DSRP is responsible for directly overseeing services provided during site based respite.

Essential Job Functions:

  1. Provides support to children based on the Respite Plan.
  2. Assists children with positive behavior and well-being while in their care.
  3. Exercises good judgment.
  4. Provides services as scheduled.
  5. Supports and provides direction to the DSRP's working at the site when site-based respite services are provided.
  6. Works at the site one weekday each week and one weekend day each week from 8am until 5pm (or until tasks are concluded).
  7. Develops respite care plans with each parent/caregiver for each child attending site-based respite.
  8. Completes Respite Daily Logs in accordance to program procedures and submits within 24
  9. Maintains Level 2 DSRP certification including staying up do date on the required trainings.
  10. Adheres to the agency's clinical, administrative, and personnel policiesand procedures.
  11. Attends all scheduled supervisions, meetings, and trainings as assigned by supervisor and/or director.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education High School diploma or equivalent.

Experience  Minimum of 6 months of previously documented experience working with children and families.

General  Must be at least 18 years of age.


Must be able to pass background checks including DMV, CPS, APS, and Criminal checks.
