    About the Role

     

    We are seeking a Lead Service Electrician to oversee day-to-day electrical service operations while remaining hands-on in the field. This role blends advanced electrical troubleshooting, customer-facing service work, and leadership of service technicians to ensure jobs are completed safely, efficiently, and to company standards.

     

    This is not a desk role. You will set the tone in the field—technically, professionally, and culturally.

     

     

    Key Responsibilities

     

    Field Leadership & Service Oversight

    • Lead and coordinate daily service calls, emergency repairs, and preventive maintenance work for commercial and residential clients.

    • Serve as the primary on-site leader for service work, ensuring jobs are completed on time, within scope, and to code.

    • Prioritize and manage multiple service calls efficiently while maintaining high-quality workmanship.

    Technical Execution

    • Diagnose and repair complex electrical systems including panels, lighting systems, motor controls, generators, and emergency power.

    • Perform advanced troubleshooting using strong NEC knowledge and practical field experience.

    • Ensure all work complies with NEC, local codes, and company quality standards

    Team Leadership & Development

    • Supervise, mentor, and train junior service electricians and apprentices.

    • Assign tasks, review completed work, and provide real-time coaching to improve skill level and productivity.

    • Set expectations for professionalism, safety, and customer interaction in the field.

    Customer & Communication Responsibilities

    • Act as the primary point of contact on service jobs, communicating clearly with customers, property managers, and internal staff.

    • Assess customer needs, explain findings, recommend solutions, and provide accurate labor and material estimates.

    • Represent Ogburn Electric professionally at all times, reinforcing trust and long-term relationships.

    Operations & Accountability

    • Complete service documentation, job notes, and material usage accurately and promptly.

    • Coordinate with the office on scheduling, parts needs, follow-up work, and job closeout.

    • Maintain company service truck, tools, and inventory in clean, organized, and ready-to-work condition.

    • Participate in an after-hours on-call rotation and lead emergency response when required.

    Qualifications

    • Journeyman Electrician license or equivalent experience (Master Electrician preferred).

    • 5+ years of electrical service experience, including commercial troubleshooting.

    • Strong working knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC) and local regulations.

    • Proven experience leading crews, mentoring apprentices, or acting as a senior service technician.

    • Excellent customer communication and problem-solving skills.

    • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.

    • Ability to perform physically demanding work, including lifting, climbing, and working at heights.
