Description

Lead Server / Shift Supervisor 

Location: Picco – St. Paul, Minnesota 

Schedule: Full-time; evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed 

 


Position Summary 

Picco is looking for an experienced and dependable Lead Server / Shift Supervisor to help guide our front-of-house team and deliver a warm, energetic guest experience. 

This is a hands-on leadership position. The Lead Server works alongside the service team while helping coordinate the floor, support employees, and maintain smooth restaurant operations. The right candidate leads by example, communicates clearly and remains calm, and solutions focused during busy service periods. 

 

Responsibilities 

  • Provide friendly, attentive and knowledgeable service 

  • Lead pre-shift meetings and communicate specials, reservations, events and service priorities 

  • Help assign server sections and side-work responsibilities 

  • Monitor the dining room, bar and service stations throughout the shift 

  • Support servers, hosts, bartenders, as needed 

  • Assist with opening and closing procedures 

  • Train and support new front-of-house employees 

  • Reinforce Picco’s service standards and steps of service 

  • Maintain knowledge of the food, beer, and wine menus 

  • Monitor ticket times, table maintenance and overall guest flow 

  • Respond to guest questions and assist with service recovery 

  • Help resolve employee concerns and communicate significant issues to management 

  • Verify side work and shift checkouts before employees leave 

  • Assist with cash handling, payment issues and Toast POS troubleshooting 

  • Maintain clean, organized and fully stocked service areas 

  • Communicate effectively with the kitchen and management team 

  • Complete shift notes and report operational concerns to management 

 

Qualifications 

  • At least two years of serving experience preferred 

  • Previous lead, trainer or supervisory experience strongly preferred 

  • Strong knowledge of restaurant service and hospitality 

  • Food, beer, and wine knowledge preferred 

  • Confident leadership and communication skills 

  • Ability to remain organized and professional in a fast-paced environment 

  • Dependable, punctual and comfortable providing direction to peers 

  • Experience with Toast POS is helpful but not required 

  • Ability to work evenings, weekends and holidays 

  • Must meet all legal requirements for serving alcoholic beverages 

 

Physical Requirements 

  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods 

  • Ability to carry trays, plates and service supplies 

  • Ability to lift approximately 30 pounds 

  • Ability to bend, reach and move safely through a busy restaurant environment
