Job Position: Lead Security Technician
Location: San Antonio, TX 78249
Pay Rate: $26-$40/hr
Description: Lead Security Technician
TradeSTAR is currently hiring experienced Lead Security Technicians for commercial electronic security and integrated low-voltage projects in the San Antonio area.
Job Responsibilities
Lead installation teams on commercial security and access control projects
Coordinate daily activities with project managers, superintendents, and other trades
Install, program, troubleshoot, and commission access control systems, CCTV/IP video systems, intrusion alarm systems, intercom systems, and integrated security platforms
Install and terminate low-voltage cabling for security infrastructure
Install and configure card readers, mag locks, electric strikes, motion devices, door contacts, REX devices, and network-connected security equipment
Build and organize MDF/IDF security infrastructure and network rack systems
Perform system testing, device verification, and final commissioning
Read and interpret blueprints, riser diagrams, device layouts, one-line diagrams, and sequence of operations
Maintain accurate project documentation and as-built drawings
Oversee quality control, crew productivity, and job site safety compliance
Qualifications
3+ years of commercial electronic security experience
Previous lead technician or foreman experience preferred
Strong knowledge of access control and IP-based security systems
Experience troubleshooting commercial security systems
Familiarity with commercial door hardware and electrified locking systems
Reliable transportation and industry-standard hand tools required
Preferred Experience
Experience with Lenel, Genetec, Avigilon, AMAG, Software House, Openpath, Brivo, Milestone, Hanwha, and Axis systems preferred
Compensation & Benefits
$26-$40/hour depending on experience
