JOB SUMMARY: Support Security Management in providing effective campus wide safety and security operations, including emergency preparedness, in order to provide a safe and secure environment for the community.

Shift(s): Monday through Friday, 6am to 2pm, plus alternating on-call weekends.

Base plus shift differential and OT pay.

JOB SUMMARY: Support the Security Manager and Assistant Manager Security in providing effective campus wide safety and security operations, including emergency preparedness, in order to provide a safe and secure environment for the community.

MAJOR ACCOUNTABILITIES/ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:

  • Assist Security Management with staff scheduling, interviews
  • Ensure that all Security Officers Training Requirements are met
  • Oversee day to day assignments of Security personnel; monitor security staff performance provide direction and coaching when needed; make recommendations concerning staff performance to management when appropriate.
  • Secure building areas, install security locks, check intrusion and fire alarm systems; provide escorts, patrol inside and outside, check for safety and security hazard and report as applicable; monitor CCTV cameras for suspicious activity and respond appropriately
  • Respond to residents, staff and visitor emergencies in a timely manner
  • Lead investigations of offenses, incidents, injuries, accidents, thefts, threats and any other unusual occurrences
  • Assist in coordinating security, fire, and safety programs; train residents and staff to provide a safe community and assure everyone is updated on all policy and code changes.
  • Additional duties as assigned

  • Identification badge and key making systems

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Work is of medium physical demand
  • Work is Outside and Inside the buildings in all types of weather
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds without assistance 50+ pounds with manual or mechanical assistance.
  • Must be able to walk long distances and climb stairways up to 50% of the workday

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITY

  • Security access control systems
  • Fire suppression systems
  • Knowledge of NFPA Life Safety Codes
  • General knowledge of alarm systems
  • Strong customer service and interpersonal skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office , including Outlook
  • Ability to give direction and delegate assignments to Security Officers
  • Ability to Lead others by example
  • Desire to work with senior adults
  • Ability to communicate accurately both written and orally

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • 1 year experience as security officer in hotel, hospital, or health care facility
  • Valid Driver's License in the State of Virginia with a minimum age 21 to drive for the organization
  • CPR, AED, and First Aid Certification within 6 months of hire date

DESIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERICENCE:

  • Associate degree in criminal justice or related field
  • Department of Criminal Justice Services Unarmed Security Officer registration
