Help

  • Serve as a Shift Leader who is an assistant to the Guard Shift Supervisor.
  • Enter personnel information to determine the appropriate access for individuals entering a location.
  • Support the implementation of installation emergency plans and the patrolling of restricted and limited access areas.
  • Enter data into automated forms to provide visitor passes.
  • Check identification and vehicles to ensure only authorized personnel are allowed access.

  • This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment.
  • This position requires certification in cardiopulmonary resuscitation with Automatic External Defibrillator (AED) training.
  • The duties of this position require the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Drivers License in one of the 50 U.S. states or possessions to operate vehicles.
  • This position is subject to the provisions of the Domestic Violence Offender Gun Ban commonly referred to as the Lautenberg Amendment.
  • This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 25% of the time.
  • This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter.
  • Appointment to this position is subject to a one year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 11.
  • This position requires shift work to provide coverage on evenings, weekends, holidays, or special situations.
  • This position is subject to a pre-employment screening, and random testing thereafter, to include testing based on reasonable suspicion and testing due to direct involvement with an on-duty accident. Detection of the presence of drugs is warranted.
  • This position requires incumbent must be able to obtain and sustain state certification for operating the NCIC terminals.
  • This position expects employees and prospective employees to maintain a high standard of conduct; and when being considered for employment and periodically thereafter, they must be assessed under the Individual Reliability Program.
  • This position requires the incumbent must be proficient in the use of assigned firearms/weapons, pass an initial qualification, and must qualify semi-annually thereafter in the use of assigned firearms/weapons.
  • This position requires the Incumbent must undergo and pass annual medical exams of physical, emotional and mental stability. Standard for medical exams are prescribed in AR 190-56 "The Army Civilian Police and Security Guard Program".
  • This positions requires the incumbent must successfully complete security guard training.
  • This position may require incumbent to wear chemical protection masks, gloves, and other protective equipment, and may be required to be certified in the use of aerosol irritants and baton.
  • This position requires the incumbent must wear the Department of the Army Security Guard (DASG) uniform IAW AR 190-56, maintain a high state of appearance and hygiene.
  • This position requires employee must obtain and maintain applicable certifications in operating various electronic equipment and sensors.
  • This position requires chemical protective mask and over garments. Incumbent must not have any medical condition that precludes the wearing of a chemical protective mask and over garments.
  • Employee must be able to perform as a member of the installations overall security response capability; duties and training require for the employee to carry and deploy a riot baton, carry a protective shield and employ non-lethal ammunitions.
  • Overtime may be required as directed and is subject to recall for periods of emergency overtime.

Qualifications

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-06 grade level in the Federal service which includes: 1) Verifying identification through identification cards, badges, and automated records; 2) Inspecting containers, personal property, documents on private, commercial and/or government vehicles; and 3) Exercising crowd control in situations that may become violent or unruly.

Education

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone -- no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
