    Position Summary:

    The Lead Sales Tax Analyst supports the organization’s sales and use tax function with a primary focus on compliance for the auto leasing business. This role plays a key part in the day-to-day supervision of sales tax compliance activities, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and regulatory compliance across a multi-jurisdiction footprint. This role serves as a subject matter expert on indirect taxes, partnering with internal stakeholders, auto dealerships, vendors, and external auditors to resolve complex tax issues, manage audits, and enhance compliance processes. This position also leads tax research efforts, reviews general ledger reconciliations, and identifies tax savings, refunds, and risk mitigation opportunities while ensuring adherence to evolving tax regulations.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Supervise and coordinate the monthly sales and use tax compliance process of collecting, reporting, and remitting state, and local sales tax returns associated with auto leasing business.
    • Manage relationships with auto dealerships and business partners to resolve taxability issues and ensure proper tax treatment of leasing transactions.
    • Establish, monitor, and continuously improve processes, internal controls, and procedures to support operational efficiency for sales & use tax compliance.
    • Lead communication with external auditors and information requests associated with external audits and inquiries by state and local taxing authorities.
    • Monitor legislative and regulatory developments and conduct technical research on sales and use tax laws, regulations, administrative guidance, and court cases.
    • Assist with the identification, research, and implementation of tax savings/refund opportunities.
    • Review and approve sales/use tax returns, reconciliations of transaction tax general ledger accounts, workpapers, and supporting documentation prepared by team members.
    • Oversee the Indirect Tax email inbox, ensuring timely responses.
    • Manage the administration and validation of exemption certificates from customers and supply exemptions certificates to vendors.
    • Serve as primary escalation point for complex sales and use tax matters involving lease transactions.
    • Support management in strategic tax initiatives, system implementations, process automation efforts, and special projects.
    • Other duties as assigned.

    Required Experience:

    • Minimum five (5) years’ experience in Sales Tax.
    • Minimum five (5) years’ tax audit and/or equivalent experience.
    • Minimum three (3) years’ experience in captive auto leasing or leasing platforms/environment
    • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite of programs.
    • Display strong effective analytical skills and reasoning.
    • Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to multitask effectively.
    • Effective written and oral communication, and interpersonal skills.
    • Projects a teamwork spirit while balancing individual responsibilities.
    • Capable of managing multiple projects and meeting deadlines, including the ability to coordinate and balance numerous tasks in a time-sensitive fast-paced environment.
    • Demonstrate strong problem-solving capabilities, with the ability to identify issues and generate creative solutions.

    Education:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.

    Overtime required – N/A

    Travel 0-10% - as required on an as needed basis.
    Must have reliable transportation and live within a commutable distance to one of the following cities: Atlanta, GA; Dallas, TX; Detroit, MI; Houston, TX; Phoenix, AZ.

    Work Schedule
    Ability to work between the hours of 8AM-6PM Monday through Friday and weekends as needed.
