Lead Safety & Quality Consultant, Enterprise (Clinical)

The Lead Consultant acts as a primary liaison with departmental and divisional stakeholders, supports and mentors’ junior staff through guidance and subject-matter expertise, and may assist in preparing and presenting materials to executive leadership to drive sustainable, system-wide improvement. Sets technical direction and project priorities, serves as a mentor and subject-matter expert, and builds department-wide capability in quality improvement and safety methodologies without direct supervisory responsibility.

Position Summary
The Lead Safety and Quality Consultant-Licensed is a senior, high-level individual contributor responsible for the strategic oversight and successful execution of the enterprise’s most complex and high-visibility clinical and operational initiatives. The Lead Consultant provides portfolio-level leadership, ensuring organizational alignment, methodological rigor, and consistency across initiatives. This role serves as a key bridge between executive leadership and frontline execution, operating with a high degree of independence and professional judgment. Key Responsibilities

• Independently oversee multiple enterprise-wide initiatives, ensuring projects within the assigned domain are delivered on time, within scope, and aligned with organizational priorities and strategic goals.
• Provides portfolio-level coordination and guidance across the work of Specialists and Consultants. Sets technical direction and project priorities, serves as a mentor and subject-matter expert, and builds department-wide capability in quality improvement and safety methodologies without direct supervisory responsibility.
• Defines and plans all phases of high-complexity initiatives. While ensuring appropriate project infrastructure is in place (e.g., schedules, documentation, data), maintain focus on the strategic roadmap, interdependencies, and proactive risk mitigation.
• Provides advanced clinical and operational expertise to inform project design and execution. Serves as a “consultant to consultants,” advising on the selection and application of tools, methods, and criteria for monitoring care delivery, outcomes, and improvement effectiveness.
• Develops and delivers high-impact presentations, reports, and executive-ready materials for senior leadership and external stakeholders, translating complex data and analyses into clear, actionable insights tailored to the audience.
• Establishes and oversees standards for quantitative and qualitative analysis across the enterprise. Ensures rigor and integrity in data management systems (e.g., REDCap, databases) and quality and safety measurement plans.
• Serves as the primary liaison and relationship manager for enterprise divisions, fostering complex, multidisciplinary partnerships and navigating organizational dynamics to remove barriers to project success.
• Drives the adoption and consistent application of advanced process improvement methodologies, ensuring the organization utilizes best-in-class approaches to measure, sustain, and scale outcomes.

Knowledge and Skills

• Proven track record of independently leading large-scale, enterprise-wide initiatives.
• Demonstrated ability to manage complex relationships and influence high-level clinical and operational stakeholders.
• Ability to manage all aspects of multiple high-stakes projects in various stages of progress simultaneously.
• Teach quality science and build methodology capabilities across the enterprise. Expert proficiency in Microsoft Office and data tools like REDCap
• Solid knowledge of the entire project lifecycle, with the ability to identify interdependencies and risks across different departments.
• Ability to create stand-alone presentations with minimal guidance with an effective display of data.

Education

• Bachelor's Degree or Equivalent Experience- Healthcare Administration, Business, Public Health or related field

Experience

• At least 6+ years of experience in Quality & Safety, Performance Improvement, or Project Management or a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in Quality & Safety, Performance Improvement, or Project Management
