The client is seeking a highly experienced Lead / Principal Application Architect to lead the architecture, design, and implementation of the UpSIDES modernization initiative. The selected consultant will serve as the primary technical leader responsible for designing a scalable, secure, and high-performance architecture supporting NASWA SIDES exchanges and modernizing unemployment insurance data exchanges from paper-based workflows to fully electronic processing.
The ideal candidate must possess extensive experience with NASWA SIDES integrations, unemployment insurance systems, state government data exchanges, enterprise application architecture, secure web services, and technical leadership across large-scale modernization projects.
Lead the design and implementation of the overall UpSIDES application architecture.
Architect scalable, secure, and high-performance enterprise application solutions.
Design and implement the four NASWA SIDES standardized exchanges.
Develop secure REST and SOAP web services supporting state and federal data exchanges.
Design integration frameworks between:
NASWA SIDES
Internal agency systems
External employers
Third-party administrators
Enterprise Data Warehouse
Implement automated workflows, notifications, and electronic processing capabilities.
Design application-level security controls including:
Encryption
Authentication
Authorization
Data-in-transit protection
Ensure compliance with:
State regulations
Federal regulations
NASWA technical specifications
Coordinate with:
Database Architects
Legacy System Teams
Business Analysts
Developers
QA Teams
Project Stakeholders
Create architecture artifacts including:
System Architecture Diagrams
Data Flow Models
Sequence Diagrams
Technical Specifications
Integration Designs
Lead technical design reviews and code reviews.
Establish coding standards and architecture best practices.
Mentor developers and provide technical leadership.
Lead troubleshooting efforts for complex integration and application issues.
Design and implement CI/CD deployment strategies.
Maintain operational continuity throughout modernization initiatives.
Perform other duties as required to support project operations.
