We are seeking a highly skilled Lead Power BI Developer to support a large-scale data modernization and reporting initiative. The project involves migrating critical program data into an enterprise SQL data warehouse and redesigning reports currently produced by legacy and mainframe systems using the Power BI platform.
The Lead Power BI Developer will serve as the technical lead for a team of Power BI developers, providing technical direction, establishing development standards, mentoring team members, and ensuring high-quality reporting solutions throughout the modernization effort.
The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in enterprise reporting, data visualization, data models, ETL/BI tools, and at least five years of hands-on Power BI experience in a production enterprise environment.
Key ResponsibilitiesLead the development, redesign, and modernization of legacy reports into modern Power BI solutions.
Provide technical leadership, mentoring, and guidance to a team of 4+ Power BI developers.
Work closely with business stakeholders, data engineers, and ETL developers to ensure accurate data sourcing.
Develop visually effective, accessible, and standardized Power BI reports and dashboards.
Ensure Power BI solutions follow established governance, security, documentation, and development standards.
Perform testing and validation to ensure accuracy, reliability, and consistency across reporting products.
Collaborate with stakeholders to gather business and technical requirements.
Validate data elements and ensure reporting solutions meet enterprise business needs.
Develop reports using data sourced from enterprise data marts and data warehouse environments.
Establish and promote Power BI development best practices and standards.
Troubleshoot reporting and data-related issues and provide technical recommendations.
Produce and maintain technical documentation, report specifications, development standards, and support materials.
Coordinate development activities and ensure timely delivery of high-quality reporting solutions.
Communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience developing Power BI reports and dashboards in an enterprise environment.
Minimum 5 years of experience with modern ETL and reporting/Business Intelligence tools.
Minimum 5 years of experience serving as a Technical Lead for a team of 4 or more developers.
Minimum 5 years of experience communicating and presenting technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Strong understanding of data modeling and data architecture concepts.
Strong understanding of data visualization best practices.
Strong understanding of enterprise reporting standards and governance.
Experience working with data engineers, ETL developers, business analysts, and business stakeholders.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.
