Lead Piping Designer
Compensation: $60/hr+

Our client is experiencing significant growth in project demand and is seeking a highly experienced Lead Piping Designer to support and guide their team. This individual will play a key leadership role, overseeing piping design efforts across multiple projects while mentoring and developing a small team of designers.

The ideal candidate is a subject matter expert in piping design within the process/chemical industry, with a strong background in both technical execution and team leadership. This role will be responsible for reviewing and validating design work, ensuring quality and consistency, and providing hands-on coaching to elevate team performance. While leadership and oversight will be the primary focus, this individual should be comfortable contributing to design production as needed.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and oversee piping design activities across multiple projects in the process/chemical sector
  • Review and check piping deliverables for accuracy, constructability, and alignment with project and client requirements
  • Mentor, train, and provide daily guidance to a small team of piping designers
  • Establish and maintain quality standards, best practices, and consistency across all design outputs
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, project management, and client stakeholders
  • Provide technical direction and resolve complex design challenges
  • Support project execution through occasional hands-on design contributions
Required Qualifications
  • 10+ years of piping design experience within chemical, process, or industrial facilities
  • Demonstrated experience leading, mentoring, or supervising small design teams
  • Strong background in piping layout, routing, and design review/checking processes
  • Proficiency with CADworx or E3D
