Description

Lead Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP)

Autism Center, Sunnyvale, CA

$130,000 - $140,000/year | Full-time | 100% clinic-based

About the Center
This autism center in Sunnyvale offers a highly sought-after intensive program where kids attend five days a week. Along with therapy, the center offers enrichment programs in piano, violin, chess, gymnastics, and more! Incorporating sensory activities and building motor skills is a huge part of the whole-child focus of this center. Speech services are part of a broad, well-rounded program for each child.

Because children attend daily, caseloads are small. Clinicians get to know each child and family well, follow progress closely, and have time to give each session their full attention.

The whole team does only 6 hours of direct service a day, with a long break in the middle of the day for everyone. Run errands, meet a friend for lunch, prep for a session, or take a nap! The team is small, close-knit and collaborative. The center is looking for a Lead SLP who loves this work and still gets excited about it!

Responsibilities

  • Lead speech-language services across the center
  • Provide evaluations and direct therapy for a reduced caseload
  • Supervise and mentor SLPAs and newer clinicians
  • Contribute to program development, working closely with the owner and the administrative team to put new ideas into practice
  • Use your own clinical approach in the speech room, whether that's child-led, play-based, structured or a mix
  • Possibly support a partnership with a local private school
  • Must be available from 9:30am to 5:00pm, Monday through Friday
  • 100% clinic-based, with no home visits

Ideal Candidate

  • Holds current California SLP license and CCCs from ASHA
  • 5-7 years of experience preferred. Candidates with more experience who stay curious and open to new approaches are encouraged to apply!
  • Experience supervising (or interest in supervising) SLPAs and newer clinicians
  • Interested in autism and experienced with this population
  • Reads research and/or wants to be a part of broad next steps in the field
  • Curious and always wants to learn more
  • Comfortable with trying new approaches and learning from what doesn't work

Program Fit
This is an exciting role in a unique setting! You will have plenty of autonomy in therapeutic style and documentation. Outside the speech room, the center uses a more adult-directed style for many of the activities, including gymnastics, chess, and music. Collaboration and curiosity are important in this role! The center has connections with several university research programs and is looking to bring on an SLP who is open to learning and growing the broader understanding of autism.

Compensation and Benefits

  • $130,000 - $140,000/year salary
  • Group medical through CalChoice, with several plan options and a 75% employer contribution
