Lead Payroll Specialist

An education network in New York City is actively seeking an experienced Payroll professional to join their team in Manhattan in a Lead role, managing and optimizing payroll operations for a large employee base.

About the Opportunity:

• Shift: Day
• Schedule: Full-time
• Hours: 9am to 5pm (½ hour or 1-hour unpaid lunch)
• Setting: Hybrid (at least 3 days a week; Tuesday to Thursday are mandatory)

Responsibilities:

• Overseeing semi-monthly and bi-weekly payroll for 3,000+ employees
• Serving as an SME for payroll regulations
• Managing complex deductions and benefit contributions
• Maintaining HRIS and payroll system integrations
• Handling compliance and audit processes
• Performing other duties, as needed

Qualifications:

• 6+ years of experience
• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field
• Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) or Fundamental Payroll Certification (FPC)
• Proficiency in ADP
• Advanced Excel skills
• Strong strategic and tactical skills
• Excellent communication abilities
• Creative problem-solving skills
• Detail-oriented with a big-picture perspective

Desired Qualifications:

• Master's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field
• Experience with Workday
• Excel expertise, including pivot tables
• Working knowledge of ADP
