Job Title: Lead .NET Engineer / Azure Architect
Duration: 12-month contract-to-hire
Location: Remote
Required Pay Scale: $100 to $110 per hour, W2 only (NO CTC)
Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Lead .NET Engineer / Azure Architect to provide hands-on leadership for enterprise applications built and deployed in Microsoft Azure.
The ideal candidate will have deep experience designing and developing serverless applications, APIs, microservices, and web applications using C#, ASP.NET, Angular, and Azure Functions. This individual will remain hands-on with architecture, development, testing, application security, CI/CD, troubleshooting, and production delivery while mentoring developers across distributed Agile teams.
This is not a documentation-only architecture or people-management position. The selected engineer must be comfortable writing code, reviewing technical designs, resolving application issues, improving engineering standards, and owning solutions through production deployment.
Project Details
- Designing and developing enterprise applications, APIs, microservices, and serverless solutions in Microsoft Azure
- Building event-driven and serverless application components using Azure Functions (NON-NEGOTIABLE)
- Developing backend services using C#, .NET, ASP.NET Core, and REST APIs
- Developing modern user interfaces using Angular, TypeScript, JavaScript, and HTML
- Leading application architecture, code quality, automated testing, deployment, performance tuning, and production readiness
- Guiding development teams in adopting shift-left testing, application security, CI/CD, and continuous delivery practices
- Translating complex software requirements into Azure DevOps user stories, technical tasks, acceptance criteria, and reference documentation
- Supporting consistent application behavior across development, integration, testing, staging, and production environments
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, configure, test, and deploy production applications using Azure Functions (NON-NEGOTIABLE), C#, .NET, ASP.NET Core, and Azure services
- Architect serverless and event-driven solutions using Azure Functions, triggers, bindings, queues, events, APIs, and related integration patterns
- Build secure, scalable, resilient, and independently deployable microservices and REST APIs
- Provide technical leadership while remaining directly involved in application development and code delivery
- Mentor engineers and help teams mature their CI/CD, automated testing, secure coding, and shift-left development practices
- Create unit tests before or alongside application code and maintain an efficient fail-first, red-to-green testing cycle
- Develop BDD acceptance criteria using Gherkin syntax, including Given, When, and Then scenarios
- Ensure unit, component, integration, regression, and acceptance tests pass before code progresses through environments
- Maintain traceability between software requirements, Azure DevOps user stories, technical tasks, acceptance criteria, and automated tests
- Review and remediate critical, high, and medium findings identified by Fortify, Sonatype, and related application-security tools
- Build and maintain CI/CD workflows using Azure DevOps, Jenkins, Git, and Terraform
- Implement API contract testing and service virtualization to support self-contained testing of upstream and downstream dependencies
- Use feature flags and runtime toggles to release incomplete functionality safely without disrupting shared environments
- Support dark launches, targeted production validation, rapid toggle rollback, and controlled feature releases
- Troubleshoot and optimize application performance across CPU, memory, API response time, database latency, scaling behavior, and infrastructure dependencies
- Analyze application telemetry using Azure Monitor and Application Insights during integration, load, scaling, and stress testing
- Support disaster recovery, application resiliency, environmental parity, rapid incident resolution, and production stability
- Maintain current architecture diagrams, API contracts, technical documentation, runbooks, and team knowledge-base materials
Must Haves
- Strong production experience designing and developing solutions with Azure Functions (NON-NEGOTIABLE)
- 10 or more years of enterprise software development experience, including recent hands-on technical leadership
- Expert-level development experience with C#, .NET, ASP.NET Core, REST APIs, and microservices
- Strong experience designing, configuring, deploying, and troubleshooting enterprise applications in Microsoft Azure
- Experience building serverless and event-driven architectures using Azure Functions, triggers, bindings, messaging, and integration services
- Full-stack development experience using Angular, TypeScript, JavaScript, and HTML
- Experience leading application-development teams while remaining hands-on with architecture, coding, testing, and deployment
- Demonstrated success mentoring developers and enabling teams to adopt modern CI/CD and shift-left engineering practices
- Strong experience with Azure DevOps, Jenkins, Git, and Terraform
- Hands-on experience with unit testing, test-driven development, automated regression testing, and integration testing
- Experience translating business and technical requirements into user stories, tasks, technical designs, and acceptance criteria
- Strong application troubleshooting, performance tuning, resiliency, and production-support experience
- Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively with developers, architects, product owners, quality teams, business stakeholders, and leadership
