Job Title: Lead .NET Developer – AWS
Location: Austin, TX / Fort Mill, SC
Employment Type: Full-Time
Experience: 10+ years

Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced Lead .NET Developer with strong hands-on expertise in legacy .NET application analysis, technical leadership, infrastructure migration, and AWS. This role requires active involvement in code development, application reverse engineering, architectural decision-making, troubleshooting, and delivery execution.
The successful candidate will take ownership of the platform’s technical direction, system reliability, migration activities, code quality, and modernization roadmap. This is a hands-on technical leadership position that requires the ability to solve complex engineering challenges while collaborating with infrastructure, security, DevOps, architecture, and business teams.
Key Responsibilities
1. Technical Ownership
  • Own the technical direction, stability, and delivery of ATDB.Web and its seven supporting services, including five Client-scheduled batch jobs, the Import Service, and the Notification Response Service.
  • Make and justify critical technical decisions, including build-versus-buy, remediation-versus-rebuild, and migration sequencing, while meeting timelines and governance requirements.
  • Serve as the primary technical escalation point, resolving complex issues and identifying blockers, dependencies, and ownership.
  • Contribute directly to development, code reviews, troubleshooting, and architectural decisions.
2. Legacy Application Analysis (.NET Framework 3.5 / ASPX / WebForms)
  • Analyze and document legacy ASP.NET WebForms applications by reviewing source code, decompiled assemblies, .NET Remoting implementations, session management, configuration settings, and legacy UI components.
  • Validate system behavior and infrastructure configurations using deployment tools, monitoring platforms, and available technical documentation.
  • Translate technical findings into clear specifications, acceptance criteria, and test scenarios for QA and business stakeholders.
  • Troubleshoot complex application issues in environments with limited documentation.
3. Infrastructure Migration Execution
  • Lead operating system and infrastructure migration activities using a low-risk, minimal-change approach that meets compliance deadlines while minimizing regression risk.
  • Evaluate on-premises and AWS hosting options based on connectivity, performance, deployment compatibility, cost, and operational risk.
  • Manage the complete deployment and promotion lifecycle across environments, including infrastructure provisioning, network changes, DNS updates, and scheduler reconfiguration.
  • Develop, test, and maintain cutover and rollback procedures to support reliable production transitions.
  • Collaborate with infrastructure and operations teams to resolve migration dependencies and maintain system availability.
4. Modernization Strategy
  • Develop short-term stabilization plans and long-term modernization roadmaps, distinguishing essential deliverables from deferred enhancements.
  • Identify opportunities for API enablement, cloud-native services, application rebuilds, and AWS-based integration solutions.
  • Translate modernization initiatives into structured Jira backlogs with defined priorities, dependencies, acceptance criteria, and implementation plans.
  • Incorporate technical debt, security concerns, and audit findings into modernization planning.
  • Recommend practical approaches that balance modernization goals, business continuity, delivery timelines, and legacy system constraints.
5. Code Quality and Engineering Standards
  • Conduct comprehensive code reviews focused on maintainability, security, architectural alignment, and operational risk.
  • Define and maintain engineering standards across legacy and modern technology environments.
  • Lead Static Application Security Testing (SAST) and Software Composition Analysis (SCA) remediation activities.
  • Identify and resolve security vulnerabilities, dependency risks, and code quality issues during migration and modernization.
  • Promote maintainable, secure, and reliable engineering practices.
6. Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Partner with Infrastructure and Operations teams on critical activities, including provisioning, networking, DataPower, DNS, and certificate management.
  • Collaborate with DevSecOps teams to maintain deployment pipelines, secrets management, certificate rotation, and security scanning.
  • Engage Architecture, Security, and Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) teams early to identify risks and resolve implementation challenges.
  • Work with shared-platform teams to establish clear ownership and execution responsibilities across dependent systems.
  • Communicate technical plans, risks, dependencies, decisions, and timelines effectively to engineering leadership, project management, and PMO stakeholders.
7. Continuous Improvement
  • Identify opportunities for automation, consolidation, operational efficiency, and cost optimization across applications, integrations, and batch processes.
  • Identify overlapping initiatives and align responsibilities across teams to reduce duplication of effort.
  • Recommend improvements to deployment processes, operational reliability, and application support practices.
Required Qualifications
Technical Expertise
  • 10+ years of hands-on .NET development experience.
  • Strong expertise in .NET Framework 3.5/4.x, ASP.NET WebForms, ASPX, IIS, configuration management, session-state internals, and legacy UI frameworks.
  • Experience with .NET Remoting or similar legacy integration technologies.
  • Strong SQL Server skills, including database analysis, performance optimization, and deployment automation.
  • Proven experience delivering infrastructure migrations, platform upgrades, or cloud transition initiatives.
  • Working knowledge of AWS services, networking fundamentals, connectivity models, and cloud cost considerations.
  • Experience with CI/CD and deployment platforms such as Octopus Deploy, GitHub Actions, or equivalent tools.
  • Ability to analyze decompiled code and troubleshoot complex systems with limited documentation.
  • Experience with application deployment, environment promotion, production cutovers, and rollback planning.
Technical Leadership and Delivery
  • Demonstrated ownership of legacy applications and enterprise platforms through compliance-driven initiatives, operating system upgrades, security remediation, or audit-related programs.
  • Strong code review practices and the ability to make sound technical decisions under delivery and operational constraints.
  • Excellent written communication skills, including technical decision documents, acceptance criteria, technical specifications, and Jira-ready backlogs.
  • Proven ability to drive infrastructure and operational dependencies to completion through collaboration, issue resolution, and escalation.
  • Experience developing and presenting phased modernization strategies to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Ability to balance hands-on development with architectural ownership, technical problem-solving, and delivery accountability.
Nice-to-Have Qualifications
  • Experience with internal enterprise frameworks, WebForms-based platforms, and Client scheduling environments.
  • Background in security remediation, including SQL injection, Cross-Site Request Forgery (CSRF), Cross-Site Scripting (XSS), dependency management, and SAST/SCA findings.
  • Experience evaluating Angular and .NET API solutions or Python-based integration and batch-processing architectures as modernization targets.
  • Experience modernizing legacy applications and integrating enterprise workloads with AWS services.
