Position overview
The Injection Mold Technician is responsible for all aspects of the injection molding process, including mold setup, process control, troubleshooting, and maintenance. The role focuses on ensuring high-quality output, minimizing downtime, and continuously improving production efficiency.
This role reports to the Molding Manager and partners closely with Operations, Tooling, and Quality. You may also coordinate with metal stamping within our broader manufacturing platform to support our customers.
What you will do
Setup & Operation: Set up injection molding machines with correct parameters for specific parts; install, align, and adjust molds, dies, and components (cores, fittings, rods, patterns) using hand tools.
Process Control: Adjust machine settings (heat, injection pressure, cycle times) for various plastic materials to ensure quality and function.
Maintenance & Troubleshooting: Perform routine and preventative maintenance;
troubleshoot and resolve molding issues such as short shots, flash, burns, and quality defects.
Quality & Safety: Maintain clean, organized workspaces; follow safety rules; use precision
measuring tools (calipers, gauges) to meet close tolerances.
Changeovers & Material Handling: Execute complex mold changeovers; assist with material handling, changeovers, and use of grinding equipment.
Collaboration: Work with setup technicians, operators, and plant leaders to address quality concerns and optimize production schedules.
Documentation: Maintain set-up sheets, production records, and standard operating procedures; use Microsoft Office (Excel, Access, Outlook, NetSuite) for data entry and reporting.
Continuous Improvement: Identify and implement process improvements; conduct root cause analysis to reduce rework and scrap.
Required qualifications
Experience: 2-4 + years in manufacturing, preferably injection molding.
Technical Skills:
Injection molding machine and auxiliary equipment operations/repair
Hot-runner and robotic system familiarity
Grinding machine operation
Machine minor repairs and troubleshooting
Precision measurement in machining
Tools & Software: Microsoft Office, inspection tools, hand/power tools, calipers, gauges.
Soft Skills: Communication, problem-solving, attention to detail, teamwork.
Self-starter mindset with high energy and strong follow through.
Education: look for some degree or if they have engineering degree
