POSITION OVERVIEW
As a Lead, Mechanical Engineer your roles and responsibilities will include:
- Provide technical leadership of the Mechanical Engineering team throughout the full program lifecycle, including design, development, manufacturing, formal hardware qualification, integration and test, transition to production, and production support.
- Provide guidance and support to achieve project goals, including participation in major design and milestone reviews, technical meetings, and project planning sessions.
- Perform requirements-driven mechanical engineering design.
- Provide inputs to EVMS reporting regarding monthly progress and estimates to completion based on quantifiable backup data.
- Develop mechanical technical approaches for future proposals.
- Participate in Root Cause and Corrective Action (RCCA) initiatives.
- Support mechanical design, procurement, environmental testing, and production activities for Seabed Systems product lines.
- Collaborate across organizational boundaries to support smooth transition of programs into production and deployment phases.
- Travel up to 10% to vendor or manufacturing facilities as required.
QUALIFICATIONS
Most importantly, you need to be a passionate Lead, Mechanical Engineer who enjoys his work and is considered to be one of the best within your organization. The ideal Lead, Mechanical Engineer would be someone with deep experience in many (if not all) of the following:
- Experience leading a Mechanical Design team.
- Experience with electronics packaging for harsh marine environments.
- Experience with SolidWorks and PDM Vault.
- Experience with undersea acoustics/sonar equipment.
- Experience with DFx, including Design for Simplicity, Manufacturability, and Testability.
- Experience working with government contracts, requirements, and compliance.
- Bachelor s Degree in Mechanical Engineering and minimum 9 years of prior relevant experience.
- Graduate Degree and a minimum of 7 years of prior related experience.
- In lieu of a degree, minimum of 13 years of prior related experience.
- Ability to obtain a security clearance.
- Experience with ANSYS is preferred.
- Familiarity using Jira for engineering metrics is preferred.
- Strong technical leadership, communication, collaboration, and project planning skills.
