Acts as lead worker for mechanics; Trains and instructs mechanics in proper repair and maintenance procedures and safety practices in the work area; Assists in the procurement, storage, repairs, replacement and maintenance of all types of automotive/truck/bus equipment; Provides feedback to supervisors on employee performance evaluations
Maintains and repairs buses, trucks, automobiles and other vehicles; maintains and repairs electrical and other complex components of equipment requiring specialized knowledge and experience; Completes other repairs as needed
Works with outside vendors to ensure repairs are timely and complete; Keeps records of vehicle and equipment repairs; implements preventative maintenance program; orders repair parts and maintains inventories of parts; maintains other records and prepares reports as required
Trains and instructs mechanics in proper repair and maintenance procedures and safety practices in the work area; Organizing personnel who need to report to an accident or break down that occurs after hours; Provides excellent customer service to all individuals that work within and outside the transportation department
Assists and supports in running an efficient service department and ensuring the service department operates under safe conditions according to established policies and procedures and in compliance with federal, state, county and municipal regulations
Performs other related duties as assigned
High School Diploma or equivalent; experience in scheduling and the repairing of automotive/bus/trucks preferred; must be able to lift and bend up to 50 pounds; must be able to push and pull up to 100 pounds; excellent customer service and communication skills; one year of supervisory experience preferred and 3 years of experience in an auto/bus repair facility; strong understanding of vehicle repairs and maintenance; experience with RTA preferred; Must meet and maintain Board/Ohio School Plan insurability standards for driving
