Cayuga Health's commitment to our employees includes competitive compensation, comprehensive employee benefits programs, and the opportunity to explore and build a career in healthcare through our many professional development programs.A Lead Lab Assistant - Outpatient Phlebotomist preforms adult and pediatric Phlebotomy, in addition to daily tasks including, centrifuging, aliquoting and stabilizing patient specimens for transport via courier to the main campus lab or via the pneumatic tube system. Accurately register patients, insurance verification and verifying all patient demographics. Roles and Responsibilities:Lead laboratory operations by ensuring staff consistently follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), operational checklists, and all regulatory requirements.Assist with onboarding, training, competency assessments, and remedial education for laboratory staff and students in collaboration with supervisory leadership.Perform all Laboratory Assistant duties, including accurate venipuncture, specimen collection, labeling with two patient identifiers, and post-phlebotomy care while maintaining zero labeling errors.Utilize EPIC to complete patient registration, order entry, and requisitioning while supporting efficient departmental workflow and quality assurance initiatives.Maintain compliance with HIPAA, infection control, safety, and hospital policies; demonstrate flexibility, professionalism, and a commitment to ongoing education and team success.Required Skills and Experience:Required: High school diploma or equivalent 2 years working phlebotomy experienceVocational phlebotomy (or related) course/program and certificationPreferred Skills and Experience:Problem solving ability and attention to detail is preferred Good written and oral communication skills preferred. Repetitive use of hands (e.g. computer keyboard usage), sitting, walking or standing for long periods of time is often necessary.Location and Travel Requirements:Onsite at Cayuga Park Outpatient Lab Service Center: 401 Cayuga Park Ln Suite 123, Ithaca, NY 14850Shift: Full-Time, Days. Anticipated schedule is Monday-Friday from 7am-3pm BUT hours and location may vary.
