Lead Industrial Systems Operations Engineer

D-Riven Engineered Solutions is seeking a seasoned operations leader to anchor complex, multi-discipline industrial projects. You’ll be the technical point person from kickoff to closeout, partnering with internal and external customer teams while upholding our uncompromising standards for safety and quality.

A day in the life

You start on site with a quick safety huddle, then walk down the work area with pipefitters, plumbers, electricians, and controls technicians to align on the day’s plan. By mid-morning, you’re leading a design review—confirming utility loads, machine foundation details, and sequencing—before stepping into a call with municipal inspectors to keep permitted work tracking. After lunch, you finalize a resource plan, issue workflow assignments to internal and vendor teams, and brief the client on progress, risks, and next steps. You close the day with a quality check against codes, specs, and QA/QC policies and coach a Project Engineer through a technical report before distribution.

What you’ll own

• Champion D-Riven health and safety expectations and ensure alignment with customer site rules.
• Partner with customer leadership on scope development, costing, quoting, and overall project planning.
• Support Project Engineers and Program Managers with detailed schedules and resource loading.
• Contribute to and review engineering design packages and technical deliverables.
• Act as the project’s technical lead, facilitating design reviews with customers and vendors.
• Interpret and validate drawings/schematics, including utility demands and machine foundation requirements.
• Coordinate with municipalities and inspectors on permitted scopes of work.
• Build comprehensive resource and workflow plans; assign responsibilities to internal staff and vendors.
• Source and manage vendors for quotations, materials, and execution support.
• Direct field installation activities for mechanical systems (pipefitters/plumbers) and electrical/controls teams.
• Review technical reports from Project Engineers prior to internal or customer release.
• Ensure all outcomes meet D-Riven standards; address gaps with teams or suppliers as needed.
• Verify compliance with codes, industry best practices, QA/QC processes, and project specifications.
• Coach and mentor Project Engineers and Team Leads; conduct formal and informal performance evaluations.
• Provide clear, daily client communication—progress, decisions, and evolving requirements.

Travel, pay, and logistics

• Starting Pay Range: $101k–$110k annually
• Travel: Approximately 75% travel with multi-week onsite rotations (commonly 3–4 weeks and occasionally a couple of months at a time).
• Company-paid travel: Flights, hotels, and rental cars are arranged and paid in advance.
• Mileage: If you drive your own vehicle from home to the work site, mileage is reimbursed at $0.725 per mile (daily hotel-to-jobsite travel is excluded).
• Per diem: $70.00 per day.
• PTO: Accrue 120 hours annually (vacation, sick, personal) available with manager approval.
• Health benefits: Coverage begins the first day of the month following your start date.
• Schedule rhythm: Travel is largely continuous with occasional breaks, particularly around holidays.

What you bring

• 3+ years of hands-on experience as an Operations Engineer, Technical Manager, Maintenance Manager, Project Engineer, or equivalent in industrial settings.
• Willingness to travel extensively (approximately 70%–80%) with extended onsite periods (2–4 weeks straight).
• Lead-from-the-front mindset and strong field presence.
• Reliable vehicle suitable for interstate driving.
• Working knowledge of AutoCAD and/or SolidWorks.
• Expertise interpreting engineering drawings, schematics, and standards.
• Advanced Microsoft Office skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Project).
• Familiarity with industrial codes, regulations, and best practices.
• Comfort collaborating across Electrical, Mechanical, HVAC, Concrete/Masonry, and Rigging disciplines.
• Demonstrated project management, supervision, critical thinking, and decision-making skills.
• Commitment to enforcing and following safety protocols.
• Strong organization and time management; willing to work in dirty or uncomfortable environments as needed.

Education

• Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology, Industrial Engineering, or a closely related field required.
• Electrical or mechanical trade certifications welcomed and valued.
• Training or education in business or organizational management preferred.
