You have already learned how to fix equipment. This role gives you the opportunity to influence what gets fixed first, recommend sustainable improvements, strengthen maintenance practices, and work closely with Engineering, Molding and Production.

As a Lead Industrial Maintenance Technician at Thermo Fisher Scientific, you will support molding machines, auxiliary equipment, electrical systems and HVAC while helping the team move from short-term repair to long-term reliability. You will be expected to share your expertise, challenge existing approaches and help turn recurring problems into documented improvements.

What your day will look like

    • You will perform immediate and preventive maintenance on manufacturing production equipment.
    • You will assess molding machines, auxiliary systems, electrical equipment and HVAC, then recommend improvements that support long-term reliability.
    • You will work with Molding, Scheduling and Production leaders to establish machine-repair priorities.
    • You will collaborate with Maintenance and Engineering to analyze problems and recommend corrective actions.
    • You will identify, document and implement continuous-improvement opportunities.
    • You will contribute to SOPs and maintenance work instructions.
    • You will document work clearly in SAP so the team can use maintenance history to make better decisions.
    • You will maintain a safe work environment and keep quality, safety and operational requirements central to every repair.

    What will help you succeed

You may be a fit if you hold a high school diploma or GED, have worked in manufacturing, and bring two to three years of maintenance-mechanic experience from manufacturing, automotive, warehouse, commercial or another mechanical-industrial environment.

Experience reading prints and schematics, performing electrical diagnostics, working with AC/DC drives, and troubleshooting hydraulics, pneumatics or HVAC will help you make an immediate contribution. Just as important, you should be comfortable communicating with multiple departments, documenting work, and helping others reach a sound repair decision.

The work includes extended standing and walking, kneeling, crouching or crawling when needed, and lifting up to 50 pounds, with assisted lifting above that level.

    Why make the move

You will gain visibility across maintenance, engineering, molding and production rather than remaining limited to work-order execution. Compensation includes a 10% second-shift differential and a $5,000 referral bonus, together with annual bonus eligibility and merit increases.

Medical, dental and vision coverage begins on day one. The package also includes at least 120 hours of PTO, 10 paid holidays, parental leave, tuition reimbursement, retirement savings, disability and life insurance, and an employee stock-purchase plan.

If you are ready to turn your maintenance experience into greater technical influence and a more direct role in equipment reliability, this role offers a meaningful next step.

    Compensation and Benefits

The hourly pay range estimated for this position based in New York is $27.11–$40.67.
