The Lead Facilities Maintenance Technician provides hands-on technical support while serving as the on-site lead for daily maintenance operations at the headquarters facility. This role performs advanced multi-trade maintenance work and coordinates workflow, vendor activities, and task prioritization for the maintenance team. The Lead Technician partners closely with Facilities Management to ensure building systems operate safely, efficiently, and in compliance with company standards.

Technical & Maintenance Responsibilities
Perform advanced troubleshooting, repair, and preventative maintenance across HVAC, plumbing, electrical, mechanical, and general building systems.
Conduct routine and detailed facility inspections; identify deficiencies and recommend corrective actions.
Complete complex repairs involving building systems, fixtures, carpentry, and equipment.
Maintain and repair office and breakroom equipment including commercial ice machines, water fountains, and appliances.
Coordinate specialized trades for major repairs or system replacements as required.
Team Leadership & Coordination
Serve as the on-site lead for maintenance technicians and support personnel.
Assign and prioritize daily work orders and preventative maintenance activities.
Provide technical guidance and mentorship to team members.
Ensure timely completion of work requests and service standards.
Escalate significant building issues to the Facilities Manager with recommended solutions.
Vendor & Contractor Oversight
Coordinate and oversee contractors, vendors, and service providers to ensure compliance with scope, safety standards, and quality expectations.
Support review of service contracts and validate work completion.
Act as primary on-site contact for vendor service visits.
Operations & Inventory Management
Maintain and monitor inventory of maintenance supplies, tools, and spare parts.
Administer inventory control procedures to ensure operational readiness.
Assist in budget awareness by identifying cost-effective repair solutions.
Safety, Compliance & Emergency Support
Promote and enforce safety procedures and regulatory compliance.
Support implementation of security and emergency preparedness protocols.
Respond to urgent maintenance issues and facility emergencies as needed.
Ensure proper documentation of inspections, repairs, and compliance activities.
Handles special work assignments, projects, and service calls as needed or required.
Key Distinction from Non-Lead Role
The Lead position:
Provides daily work direction and task prioritization
Serves as escalation point for complex maintenance issues
Oversees vendor performance and quality control
Supports compliance documentation and operational reporting
Acts as liaison between facilities management and maintenance staff
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent required; technical certification preferred.
5+ years of experience in facilities or building maintenance in a commercial environment.
Demonstrated advanced knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical systems.
Prior experience leading or coordinating maintenance staff preferred.
Strong troubleshooting, decision-making, and organizational skills.
Ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
Strong communication skills and ability to interface with leadership, occupants, and vendors.
Preferred Qualifications
EPA Certification.
Experience with Building Management Systems (BMS).
OSHA or safety-related training certifications.
Experience in corporate headquarters or Class A office environments.
