Lead Estimator

Full Time

Location: North Bergen, NJ

Compensation: $80,000 - $ 110,000, based on experience, qualifications, and demonstrated commercial collision expertise.

Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced Lead Estimator to help lead the daily operations of a large-scale, 45,000-square-foot commercial collision repair facility employing more than 40 production team members.

This position serves as the critical link between customers, estimators, production staff, and management. The ideal candidate possesses extensive experience in heavy-duty truck, commercial vehicle, coach, and bus collision repair estimating, strong customer service skills, and the ability to coordinate effectively with both office and production personnel.

The Lead Estimator will interact with customers throughout the day, support estimating and repair planning activities, monitor repair progress, assist with workflow management, and work closely with the Shop Floor Manager to ensure repairs are completed safely, efficiently, and profitably.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for customers throughout the repair process.
  • Provide repair updates, manage expectations, and resolve customer concerns.
  • Build and maintain relationships with fleet, commercial, transit, and municipal accounts.
  • Conduct daily production meetings and coordinate workflow with the Shop Floor Manager.
  • Prepare and review repair estimates, supplements, invoices, and documentation for accuracy and profitability.
  • Identify additional repair needs and coordinate supplements with customers and insurers.
  • Monitor repair progress, remove production bottlenecks, and support scheduling and resource planning.
  • Assist in developing repair strategies and ensuring compliance with company, customer, and insurer requirements.
  • Coach and train team members while reinforcing company policies and safety standards.
  • Maintain accurate records and assist management with reporting and operational analysis.

Knowledge, Skills & Qualifications

  • Knowledge of heavy vehicle collision repair and estimating.
  • Strong customer service, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Attention to detail and knowledge of shop workflow and production scheduling.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to work in both office and shop environments.
  • Frequent walking and vehicle inspections.
  • Ability to climb steps, access commercial vehicles, and occasionally lift up to 25 lbs.
