The S6W Power Plant Electrical (PPE) unit is looking for a motivated and driven person to fulfill the lead engineer position. The lead engineer position provides a growth opportunity that will develop both leadership and technical skills.
S6W PPE plays an integral role in supporting the Seawolf class ships. The unit includes subject matter experts on design and operations of S6W instrumentation and control systems. The unit responsibilities include providing support to emergent fleet issues, in addition to providing technical and programmatic recommendations to improve fleet operational capabilities and service life extensions.
The lead engineer is responsible for oversight of work performed within S6W PPE to include:
1. Prioritize, assign, and manage work within S6W PPE
2. Enforce program quality standards
3. Provide guidance and mentoring to engineers developing deliverables
4. Provide succinct summaries, both oral and written, of work and work-related risks, issues, and opportunities
5. Lead and execute assignments at the request of management
6. Facilitate a strong and productive teaming environment between other units at NNL, BPMI, and NR
Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university in a related technical, engineering or science field and a minimum of 9 years of relevant experience; or Masters degree from an accredited college or university in a related technical, engineering or science field and a minimum of 7 years of relevant experience; or Doctorate degree from an accredited college or university in a related technical, engineering, science field and a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience; or Currently a Principal Reactor Training Engineer, Refueling Engineer, or Field (RPCO) Engineer at the Company.
The Naval Nuclear Laboratory is operated for the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) by Fluor Marine Propulsion, LLC (FMP), a wholly owned subsidiary of Fluor Corporation.
