Our client is an exclusive, 1015 person automation firm in Norcross, GA, that specializes in developing custom automated welding and orbital fusion solutions for challenges that have never been solved before. They are not in the business of building the exact same machine repeatedly. Instead, they integrate cutting-edge techincluding Universal Robots (cobots), advanced machine vision, custom AI platforms for complex welding, and industrial motion control.


Here, you will not be just another engineer in a massive corporate hierarchy. You will work directly with leadership, transition rapidly from concept to prototyping, and see your ideas become physical, real-world solutions deployed to customers.


Role Details


Location: Norcross, GA (100% On-site, 5 days/week)


Shift: 7:00 AM 3:30 PM (includes a 30-minute lunch)


Compensation: $80,000 $130,000 (Based on experience)


Travel: 40%50% initial travel (Domestic US) for customer support, machine commissioning, and FAT. Note: Travel will decrease over time as the engineering team expands.


Environment: Fast-paced, heavily hands-on, jeans/polo dress code (company apparel provided later).


Core Responsibilities


Full-Cycle Design: Architect complete industrial electrical power and safety systems (24 VDC to 480 VAC, STO/SS1, E-stops).


Cabinet Build & Debug: Design, physically assemble, and troubleshoot control cabinets integrating servo drives, HMIs, and welding power supplies.


Motion & Robotics: Commission multi-axis motion hardware, servos, and steppers, integrating them with mechanical systems and robotics.


Software & Logic: Write and maintain Structured Text for PLC-based machine functions; build Python tools for diagnostics; support ROS/ROS2 integration.


PCB & Embedded Systems: Design multilayer PCBs for sensor interfaces and motor electronics; mitigate EMC/EMI.


Field Support: Troubleshoot live, energized industrial equipment on the shop floor and at customer sites to ensure weld quality and machine uptime.


Candidate Profile


Experience: 5+ years of proven electrical design and troubleshooting experience in an industrial/automation setting.


Technical Mindset: You enjoy building and solving rather than spending months in theoretical analysis.


Hands-On: Comfortable moving seamlessly between desk-based design and physical shop-floor assembly/repairs.


Process: Excited by a technical interview process where you will walk through real schematics, PLC code, and troubleshooting scenarios with the engineering leadership.
