Lead Electrical Project & Design Engineer – Raritan, NJ - $145k - $175k
This client needs your electrical engineering expertise!
Responsibilities include:
Ø Lead electrical design efforts for power distribution, lighting, emergency and standby power, grounding, fire alarm, controls, and related systems.
Ø Prepare and review drawings, specifications, calculations, equipment selections, and other technical deliverables.
Ø Ensure deliverables meet project requirements, applicable codes, quality standards, and constructability expectations.
Ø Provide technical guidance to project managers, internal teams, clients, contractors, consultants, and utility representatives.
Ø Conduct site surveys, field investigations, system assessments, and construction-phase reviews.
Ø Support system troubleshooting, commissioning, functional testing, and project closeout.
Ø Assist with project scopes, budgets, proposals, schedules, estimates, and technical recommendations.
Ø Coordinate electrical designs with mechanical, plumbing, and other MEP disciplines throughout project execution.
Ø Help establish engineering standards, quality-control procedures, templates, and workflows.
Ø Mentor junior technical staff and support the continued growth of the company’s engineering services.
Requirements include:
Ø Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related discipline.
Ø Professional Engineer license strongly preferred; ability to obtain licensure in applicable jurisdictions may be considered.
Ø At least 10 years of progressively responsible electrical engineering experience, including technical leadership responsibilities.
Ø Experience with electrical, high-voltage, and low-voltage systems in construction and an understanding of how they interact with HVAC, plumbing, mechanical, building-automation, and other building systems, including:
o Electrical system design and multidisciplinary MEP coordination for mission-critical, commercial, residential, building-automation, or similarly complex projects.
o Electrical systems commissioning processes, procedures, and testing scripts.
Ø Experience with power distribution, switchgear, transformers, generators, uninterruptible power supply systems, lighting, grounding, emergency power, fire alarm, and life-safety systems.
Ø Ability to prepare and review engineering drawings, specifications, calculations, equipment selections, and technical documentation.
Ø Experience supporting construction, project management, estimating, budgeting, and client-facing technical discussions.
Ø Working knowledge of the National Electrical Code and applicable NFPA, IEEE, building, energy, fire, and life-safety requirements.
Ø Strong leadership, communication, collaboration, project-management, and problem-solving skills.
Ø Ability to manage evolving project needs in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.
Ø Ability to travel to project sites and client meetings as required.
