This role provides technical leadership across multiple projects, developing customized engineering solutions that enhance system reliability, operational performance, and grid resiliency. Working closely with clients, project teams, and stakeholders, the Lead Engineer serves as a subject matter expert, ensuring designs comply with utility standards, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices. Through technical excellence, mentorship, and project leadership, this position plays a critical role in delivering high-quality power system solutions that support customer and business objectives.

How you will make an impact

  • Develop and review Protection & Control settings, relay philosophies, protection schemes, and engineering deliverables for transmission and substation systems.
  • Perform short-circuit, coordination, and power system analyses using detailed system models to support reliable and compliant system operation.
  • Design, configure, and review Human-Machine Interface (HMI) applications, substation automation systems, and related control system integrations.
  • Apply client-specific standards, NERC requirements, and industry best practices to develop innovative, reliable, and secure engineering solutions.
  • Conduct event analysis, disturbance investigations, and troubleshooting activities to identify root causes and improve system reliability and performance.

What you will bring

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology.
  • 5-8 years of experience in protection and control engineering, relay engineering, power systems engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Proficiency with power system analysis tools such as ASPEN, SKM, EasyPower, ETAP, or similar utility software applications.
  • Experience with power system protection, relay design, relay settings development, fault analysis, coordination studies, or substation design and telecommunications integration.
  • Strong understanding of engineering theory, utility practices, power system operations, applicable industry standards, and NERC requirements.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, analytical, and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and collaborate effectively with clients and project teams.
