    Position Description:Under the supervision of the Dining Manager, the Lead Server plays a crucial role in providing exceptional dining experiences for our residents and guests in an upscale retirement community. This position involves training and dining orientation of servers and bus persons, maintaining a professional and courteous demeanor, and ensuring the overall satisfaction of our unique customer base.
    Essential Functions:
    • Courteously and professionally serve all residents and guests meals in the dining rooms.
    • Maintain a neat and orderly work area.
    • Inform supervisor of food needs and address resident questions/concerns.
    • Set up, serve, and break down special functions.
    • Act as a key figure in public relations for the community through direct contact with residents and guests.
    • Assist with checking servers out at the end of the shift.
    • Attend production meetings before each meal service.
    • Possess thorough knowledge of the menu and all items.
    • Familiarize new servers and bus persons with all dining policies and procedures.
    • Train new servers on proper service techniques.
    • Ensure each server is trained to handle a minimum of four tables at a time.
    • Train on proper bussing techniques.
    • Inform the dining manager of the status of new trainees.
    • Perform pre-opening and closing checklist duties as assigned.
    • Follow all policies and procedures for the dining services department.
    • Cooperate and coordinate work activities with co-workers to ensure a smooth and successful dining experience.
    • Attend in-service training seminars when scheduled.
    • Ensure exceptional customer service is provided at all times.
    • Exhibit a pleasing and positive attitude while on the job.
    • Demonstrate dependability and punctuality.
    Skills, Knowledge, Certifications, and Licensing:
    • Strong, proven customer service skills.
    • Good knowledge of state and local health requirements, including sanitation and cleanliness standards.
    Experience and Educational Requirements:
    • Understanding of operational financials, budgets, and inventories.
    • Extensive background in supervising associates.
    • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
    • College preferred.
    • One to five years’ experience in the food service arena, particularly in catering and fine dining restaurants.
    Physical Requirements:
    • Must be able to stand and walk short distances for prolonged periods.
    • Requires bending at knees, twisting from side to side at the waist, reaching above, below, and at shoulder height.
    • Must be able to lift 50 pounds to waist height.
    • Must be able to push 100 pounds using a cart with casters.
    Language, Mathematical, and Reasoning Skills:
    • Ability to communicate verbally and coherently with customers, co-workers, supervisors, vendors, and all other associates.
    • Mathematical skills to read and understand financial reports, inventories, order costing, etc.
    • Required to practice astute reasoning, sound judgment, and compassionate listening when dealing with customers and colleagues.
