A regulated financial services organization is seeking a Lead Developer to provide hands-on technical leadership across enterprise application development, integration, architecture, and production support. This position is designed for a senior engineer who wants to influence technical direction while continuing to design, build, test, and support applications.

The Lead Developer will work across internally developed systems and third-party platforms, helping ensure that critical applications are secure, reliable, and properly integrated. The role also provides technical guidance to junior developers and helps the broader team identify gaps, adopt stronger engineering practices, and deliver sustainable solutions.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Design, develop, test, and enhance enterprise applications using Java and the Spring ecosystem
  • Create RESTful services, APIs, and data integrations that connect internal and third-party applications
  • Contribute to application architecture, microservices design, and message-based integration patterns
  • Design secure solutions using appropriate authentication and authorization protocols
  • Lead technical projects involving automated testing, continuous integration, deployment, and release management
  • Evaluate technical gaps and recommend improvements aligned with industry practices
  • Implement and support third-party applications throughout their lifecycle
  • Diagnose production incidents and deliver temporary or permanent technical resolutions
  • Mentor junior developers and provide guidance on design, coding, testing, and delivery practices
  • Collaborate with application, infrastructure, security, vendor, and business teams

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor s degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or a related discipline with at least 7 years of relevant experience, or 10 years of equivalent professional experience
  • Advanced hands-on Java development experience using Java 8 or later
  • Strong knowledge of Spring, JPA, Hibernate, JUnit, and RESTful web services
  • Experience with SQL and modern web technologies such as HTML, CSS, Angular, Bootstrap, TypeScript, and Node.Js
  • Experience designing microservices, APIs, integrations, and message-queue solutions
  • Knowledge of object-oriented design, design patterns, test-driven development, and application architecture
  • Experience with authentication, authorization, and secure application design
  • Experience with automated testing, build automation, CI/CD, and release management
  • Experience using GitLab or comparable development and automation platforms
  • Understanding of Agile, Scrum, and waterfall delivery approaches
  • Demonstrated technical leadership and developer-mentoring experience
  • Ability to balance project work, production support, and multiple priorities
  • Willingness to participate in a rotating after-hours support schedule

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE
  • Financial services or other regulated-industry experience
  • Experience implementing third-party enterprise applications
  • Production on-call or application-support experience
  • Familiarity with investment, treasury, lending, or capital-markets applications
  • Experience coordinating with external software vendors
