Modernize system components, designing and implementing REST/SOAP APIs, WebSphere messaging, and database connectors to integrate legacy AS400 core with modern SaaS tools. - Manage and configure IBM WebSphere middleware (WebSphere MQ, Integration Bus, B2B) for EDI integration with external partners (shipping lines, customs, rail, trucking).

Job Summary (AS400 / IBM i Developer WebSphere EDI)

- Take full operational ownership of a proprietary IBM i-based port and logistics management platform.
- Reverse-engineer and analyze legacy code (RPG, CL, DB2) to document business rules, workflows, and data structures.
- Manage and configure IBM WebSphere middleware (WebSphere MQ, Integration Bus, B2B) for EDI integration with external partners (shipping lines, customs, rail, trucking).
- Develop and maintain EDI data maps and transactions for key ANSI X12/EDIFACT sets (210, 214, 301, 310, 322, 850/856).
- Serve as the primary developer and Subject Matter Expert (SME) for ongoing system stability, troubleshooting, and tier-3 support.
- Modernize system components, designing and implementing REST/SOAP APIs, WebSphere messaging, and database connectors to integrate legacy AS400 core with modern SaaS tools.
- Document business logic, architecture, and data flows to mitigate single points of failure and support future knowledge transfer.
- Lead future AS400 development and EDI modernization initiatives for improved system performance and capabilities.
- Collaborate with operational stakeholders, bridging technical and non-technical needs in a mission-critical logistics environment.
- Preferred: Experience in port operations, logistics, or freight systems; exposure to web technologies or IBM i web-enablement tools.
