Lead Data Platform Engineer - Analytics Platforms

Overview
Client is seeking a Platform Engineer to design, implement, and support cloud infrastructure and analytics platform services across AWS and a modern data ecosystem. This role focuses on platform reliability, automation, security, and operational excellence for business intelligence, data, and analytics environments.
The ideal candidate will partner closely with data engineering, analytics, and cross-functional teams to enable scalable data workflows, automate operational processes, and maintain high-performing analytics platforms.

Core Responsibilities
• Design, implement, and manage cloud infrastructure and platform services across AWS, Datameer, Tableau, MicroStrategy, Snowflake, Airflow, and related technologies.
• Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines for data and analytics applications, ensuring reliable and automated deployments.
• Manage infrastructure as code (IaC) using Terraform, CloudFormation, or similar technologies.
• Ensure platform reliability through monitoring, alerting, logging, incident response, and operational support practices.
• Optimize platform performance, scalability, and cost across cloud environments and analytics platforms.
• Implement security best practices, including identity management, data protection, access controls, and compliance controls.
• Collaborate with data engineering, analytics, and cross-functional teams to enable efficient data workflows and platform adoption.
• Automate operational processes to improve efficiency and reduce manual intervention.
• Support environment provisioning, configuration management, and release management activities.
• Contribute to platform governance, auditability, operational standards, and access management.
• Provide technical leadership, establish platform standards, and mentor engineers contributing to the analytics platform.
• Participate in on-call rotations and lead incident response activities for platform-related outages.

Essential Qualifications, Skills, and Technologies
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, with 5+ years of platform engineering or platform support experience.
• Strong experience administering and supporting Snowflake, MicroStrategy, and Tableau platforms.
• Strong experience with AWS services including EC2, S3, Lambda, RDS, CloudWatch, IAM, and VPC.
• Hands-on experience with CI/CD tools such as GitLab CI, Jenkins, or similar solutions.
• Experience with infrastructure as code using Terraform, CloudFormation, or comparable tools.
• Experience managing and supporting analytics platforms such as Airflow, Datameer, and Tableau.
• Experience with containerization technologies such as Docker and orchestration platforms including Kubernetes.
• Proficiency with scripting and automation using Python, PySpark, Bash, or similar languages.
• Familiarity with monitoring and observability tools such as CloudWatch, Prometheus, and Grafana.
• Strong understanding of networking, security, and cloud architecture principles.
• Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams.

Preferred Skills or Experience
• Experience with data platform ecosystems and integration with AWS services.
• Familiarity with data pipeline orchestration tools such as Apache Airflow.
• Experience implementing platform engineering practices for BI and analytics tools, particularly MicroStrategy and Tableau.
• Experience working with data warehouses such as Snowflake or Amazon Redshift.
• Knowledge of Datameer platform administration, optimization, and troubleshooting.
• Experience with secrets management solutions such as AWS Secrets Manager or HashiCorp Vault.
• Experience implementing security and compliance frameworks within cloud environments.
• Familiarity with cloud infrastructure cost optimization strategies.
• Experience working in retail, e-commerce, or consumer-facing environments.
• Exposure to AI/ML platform deployment and MLOps practices.
