We have an opportunity at our corporate offices in Chicago for a Lead Data Analyst (Hybrid) on our Health Policy team. This is a hybrid position reporting into our Chicago, IL office, requiring 3 days a week in the office.

As a Lead Data Analyst, you will be responsible for the development and maintenance of critical data resources to enhance the overall effectiveness AMA/Specialty Society RVS Update Committee (RUC) process and the submission of recommendations to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS). Lead claims and other data analysis to ensure accuracy in the Medicare payment system and to support other AMA advocacy goals.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Data Analysis

• Perform data complex data analysis of Medicare, Medicare Advantage and Medicaid claims data for utilization in the CPT Editorial Panel and RUC processes.
• Utilize claims data and other data sources tosupport AMA Advocacy staff in addressing proposed regulation and legislation.
• Provide data analysis to the RUC and RUC Subcommittees to inform methodology considerations.
• Perform utilization projections and budget neutrality assumption via liaison with specialty societies for submission to CMS.
• Collaborate with Advocacy staff in physician payment advocacy and discussion with CMS, MedPAC legislative staff and other organizations by providing data analysis, as requested.
• Write, edit, and oversee the development of reports and educational material related to claims analysis.

RBRVS Data Mangement

• Maintain all data obtained from the national medical specialty society surveys and reported on summary of recommendation macro-based documents.
• Prepare and manage data reports for CMS for submission with RUC recommendations related to resource costs.
• Manage the integrity of the RUC data retention process. Manage an extensive and complex database tool of RUC and RBRVS information for individual physician services.
• Collaborate with AMA Information Technology to ensure the successful deployment of updates to the RUC Database and the RBRVS Data Management system.
• Ensure that the RUC, CPT Editorial Panel, CMS staff and others successfully utilize the RUC Database by providing orientation sessions and addressing questions.

Project Management and Policy Support:

• Contribute to the development of advocacy documents, including RUC recommendations, presentations, graphics, correspondence and other reports related to physician payment policy.
• Effectively advocate for physicians'' interests by analyzing claims data, Medicare payments and other data to develop persuasive arguments for presentation to CMS, MedPAC, and other organizations
• Prepare data files for to be utilized in AMA products, including clinical vignettes and CPT/RVU products.
• Participate in annual RUC meetings, facilitating the use of the RUC Database tool and providing data and budget neutrality analysis support to RUC members and national medical specialty societies for the purpose of developing RUC recommendations.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Education: Master''s degree required (P2+/M2+)

2. Years of experience: 7+ years of experience in healthcare data analytics, preferably working with physicians, professional associations, and/or government agencies.

3. Expert knowledge in healthcare claims data analysis.

REQUIREMENTS:

• Expert knowledge and experience with Stata, SAS, and SQL.
• Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to communicate and deliver effective presentations and successfully interact with physicians and policymakers.
• Strong research and analytical skills, including the ability to independently and efficiently locate information, evaluate and concisely present findings.
• Strong project management skills, including the ability to independently initiate, manage, and execute multiple policy projects in a fast-paced team environment under tight deadlines.
• Demonstrated ability to work in a team focused environment.
• Organizational sensitivity and a sense of confidentiality and discretion required.
• Knowledge of medical terminology and coding preferred.
• Demonstrated experience with Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel and Access required.
• Some travel required, including overnight and weekend meetings.

This role is an exempt position, and the salary range for this position is $104,872-$138,737. This is the lowest to highest salary we believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting. An employee's pay within the salary range will be determined by a variety of factors including but not limited to business consideration and geographical location, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
