SUMMARY:
Ensure campus spaces are safe and clean for students, employees, and guests. Positions available in academic and residential buildings to support student life, academic operations, and other events on campus.
Starting Wage: $15.50 - $16.50 per hour
ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:
- The custodial staff maintains building appearance and cleanliness in all areas; lobbies, entrances, classrooms, offices, hallways, kitchens, conference rooms, staircases, study lounges; restrooms, and shower rooms.
- Custodial duties will consist of but not limited to:
- Unlock/lock building and turn on/off lights
- Sweep
- Mop
- Vacuum
- Empty trash receptacles and dispose of trash
- Clean glass
- Dust surface areas
- Disinfect fixtures
- Annual deep cleaning
- Assist with set-up for campus events
- Snow removal
- Maintain outside entrances year round
- Recycling
- Clean restroom and show-room facilities
- Floor care
- Other duties as assigned
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide guidance and organization to other team members
- Direct and support student workers
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE and SKILLS:
Education:
High School diploma and/or equivalent preferred but not required
Experience:
1 year direct experience in custodial work
Must be detail orientated and have good time management and organizational skills
Basic computer knowledge and operation
Proven ability to work with others
Must be able to read sufficiently to follow instructions, ability to mix appropriate chemical dilution ratio and understand directions for use
Ability to cultivate and develop inclusive and equitable working relationships with students, faculty, staff, alumni, parents, and friends of the college
PHYSICAL DEMANDS and WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- Mobility: walk or stand for extended periods of time
- Lifting: ability to lift and carry 50 pounds
- Dexterity: must have a full range of motion including bending, stretching, lifting, and kneeling.
- Be available for scheduled shift
- Overtime may be required
- Inside and outside of buildings, spaces may or may not be air conditioned
- Exposure to potentially hazardous chemicals, noise, dust and fumes
- Required to work in restricted places which may require stooping, bending and kneeling
- Buildings and grounds are smoke free
