Position Details

  • Classification: Support Staff (Full-Time, 10-Month School Year)

  • Pay Assignment: Non-Contract Support, Lead Food Service (D1-D16+)

  • Reports To: Food Service Director

Job Objective

  • Lead and support daily food service operations to ensure the preparation, service, and clean-up of nutritious meals in a safe, efficient, and sanitary environment in the school building assigned.

Qualifications

  • Education and/or experience as identified at time of hiring.

  • Ability to read instructions and perform basic math calculations.

  • Ability to operate commercial kitchen equipment safely and effectively.

Core Responsibilities:

Leadership & Supervision

  • Coordinate and supervise daily kitchen operations.

  • Delegate tasks to kitchen staff and ensure completion.

  • Ensure staff follow safety and sanitation standards.

  • Serve as a positive role model for students and staff.

Food Preparation & Service

  • Prepare, cook, and portion food using standardized recipes.

  • Follow menu plans and assist with menu suggestions.

  • Set up and maintain serving lines efficiently and attractively.

  • Serve food according to portion control guidelines.

Sanitation & Safety

  • Maintain cleanliness of kitchen, serving areas, and equipment.

  • Follow all sanitation procedures and food safety standards.

  • Address immediate safety concerns or report them promptly.

  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, state, and federal regulations.

Operations & Inventory

  • Order supplies as needed from central production.

  • Inspect kitchen facilities and report maintenance issues.

  • Protect equipment, materials, and facilities.

Records & Compliance

  • Complete daily production and food service records.

  • Use district food service software effectively.

  • Complete required trainings in a timely manner.

  • Follow all district policies and legal requirements.

Communication & Collaboration

  • Communicate professionally with students, staff, and coworkers.

  • Attend meetings and participate in committees as required.

Additional Duties

  • Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Physical Requirements

  • Frequent standing, bending, pushing, pulling, and squatting (50-80% of the workday). Occasional lifting up to 40 pounds independently; heavier lifting requires assistance.
